I have it on good authority from a VERY reliable source that it's possible that the duke of Guernsey (SL) is the main backer behind the consortium. His major plans potentially centre on revenue streams from conferencing facilities at the UWE stadium (looking to create a complete business conference planning and hosting business which covers the South West) but he could also want to bring Rovers under the Bristol Sport Ltd banner as a feeder club to City hence the plan to downsize the UWE to 15,000 capacity - I guess the idea is City push for the Prem and Rovers are the "development squad" at around L1/Champ level. I do know a bit more than I'm saying here but I have to keep that to myself for legal purposes. I hope you all understand that I've taken this decision very seriously and in the best interests of the club. I've made the call on making this public, guys. You're such a funny guy.  Why? |

I dony want to be any part of Bristol Sport. I want my club to reach the Prem before that heap of sh**e in BS3. I want my club to be playing in Europe every season, not be a junior club to that 82 lot. Blue is the color. Blue is a vibrant color. People will not be talking about BCFC1982 in a few years time. You can stick Bristol Sport where a monkey stuffs his nuts. Could be one of the reasons Higgs might be resisting? |

LJG you made one fatal mistake in your post you named a backer, rule 1 of "forum staduim rumours" states you must never name your source or the financial backer as it spoils the fun.
Having said that TBone seems to have fallen for it, but no doubt he'll now deny he did!

the leak I was sent came from a someone who works with Board but isnt a director.....and he's known for leaking I'm also known for leaking after about six pints, but I don't work with the Board. I leak as I drink. Saves getting up. |

If the rumour has any credence, then Higgs is in a very difficult position. If as rumoured the stadium will be built as planned, there will be money for players and the club be run professionally. Then he is either going to deny it out of hand, or say that is exactly what he plans to do..Ha , Ha. I would like to know is how he intends to convince the fans of anything, as. He has never been completely frank with us before. I say Higgs out the sooner the better. It has been a fairly open secret that Rovers have been up for sale for some time now and Nick Higgs offered to stand down as chairman after we got relegated. Whilst he realised that no-one else was willing to buy him out he actively tried to persuade at least one individual to step forward and take over as Chairman but they flatly refused. This shows me that he has no wish to continue in the role but with so much personal investment in the club and the guarantees that he has given then he is probably stuck until someone comes along to buy him out. The value of his shareholding depends obviously on the outcome of the Sainsburys decision but as decision day looms that will soon be answered and the true value of his shareholding can be agreed . I believe that Colin Sexton has been brought onto the board to fulfill a special role and that may be to act on behalf of the Board in getting as good a deal as he can for both the Club and the Directors. I don't believe for one moment that he has transferred his allegiences to BRFC but I do believe that he has personal friendships with certain Board members and is helping them out personally . I dont know anything more than anyone else but it seems to me highly likely that that 2 and 2 do make 4. |
