Not sure how you get to a figure of 7% when they were buying a piece of land at double its value? The 7% is (I think) the figure Sainsbury's quoted at the original trial. Apparently, they need something like a 12% return to make a supermarket viable. How know's if those figures were genuine though as Sainbury's could hardly own up to the fact they out bid Waitrose etc by £10m just to stop them buying the land/building their supermarket? |
