Sorry but I don't normal comment on here about players ,very easy when sat in the stands .but to say j Clarke was poor don't know what game some of you were watching he made one bad pass to leadbitter ,one over shot free kick and one miss control ,he got all his headers got all his tackles in no player got around him the pompy player that got there second could not get pass him so he mover over the other side for me the only thing he was guilty of was playing safe .passed short not long .tell me where was Lockyer in the the first 10 min when the player was on goal and a great save by the keeper and where was Lockyer and Parkers for the second goal they were both playing central half and that was player that could not get around j Clarke .but will say it was not his best but Dc Should have taken of parks not Clarke ,any way that's just my thought on the game no man of the match for me all about the same Agree Parkes should have been taken off rather than J.Clarke - thought Parkes was poor v Plymouth first half too. think Brown should've been put into conventional LB and Montano or Bodin (both left footers) should have been deployed wide left. Brown doesn't fancy taking anyone on - no surprise really he is just a solid LB !

Nicholls 7 good keeper maybe could have done better with 2nd goal
Leadbitter 6 did well for first game back J. Clarke 6 solid defender but basically the same as lockyer Lockyer 7 didn't think he was good enough at RB or CM but very good at CB Parkes 4 poor game and gets caught in possession too often Brown 6 tidy game ,better LB than WB
Sinclair 5 did a lot of running O. Clarke 5 anonymous Lines 7 always trying to make a good pass ,but hampered by lack of movement around him
Harrison 6 our main goal threat but not a target man Easter 6 good player but lacks pace
Subs: Bodin 7 looks worth keeping Gosling 5 I think he is better at CM than wide Taylor 3 doesn't look like a league player
crowd 3 not much support ref 7 better than most Portsmouth 8 probably best team in this league
Clarke ; changing to 4-4-2 at half time was a mistake as we gave up the midfield and had no more width than in the first half

My own opinions from yesterday's game.
Nicholls 7 Made a couple of good saves. Confident on corners and made a really strong punch away from one.
Leadbitter 7 Lacked some positional awareness at times in his first game back, but was able to cover with his pace. Created our best chance, the goal, with his pace and crossing ability. J. Clarke 5.5 Fairly solid defensively and a victim of the half-time change of formation. I never feel like the rest of the team trust him enough on the ball, but its not like he does particularly badly with it. Lockyer 6.5 Dealt with most stuff in the air, but the defence needed the leadership of McChrystal there yesterday, not that this is solely Tom's fault. Parkes 3 Woeful. Unless Brown is right next to him, he whacks it long every time. Worse, the defensive side of his game has slipped and was lucky on a couple of occasions yesterday. Brown 5.5 Always maintains a good level of performance but I haven't seen him raise his game yet this season. Struggles offensively as a wingback as he can't take on the opposition right-back without any support. Missing Monkhouse.
Sinclair 5 As the cliche goes, he gave his all as always. However, he was part of a midfield that was too flat and lacking in any forward, rather than sideways, creativity. O. Clarke 5 Did a job in shielding the defence, but could he create more? Someone in the midfield has to. Lines 5 Did a good job of spreading the play wide to Leadbitter and Brown, but I didn't see him attempt a cutting pass through to the strikers once. He wants to sit deep and dictate the play, but I think he could do a better job if he was 15-20 yards higher up the pitch.
Harrison 5 Given very little to work with, and although he harried the opposition defence there was little point as with Leadbitter and Brown dropped back, their full-backs were always free. Easter 6.5 Was in the right place for the goal and almost scored out of nothing when a deflection just denied him.
Subs: Bodin 5.5 Started well on the right linking up with Leadbitter, but then seemed to drift across the pitch for the rest of the half. Gosling 4 When he started the second half, he was on the left wing. Then after the goal, he played more on the right. This was a waste as he always looked to cut in a didn't get any kind of overlap going with Leadbitter, our best attacking player. Taylor 5 Didn't get into the game in the limited time that he had
Crowd 6 Ref 7.5 Keen to get his yellow card out, but was the same to both teams in this regard. Portsmouth 7.5 A strong team without being too flashy or having one particular layer who stood out.

Nicholls 6 ok,no more Leadbitter 6 looked a bit ring rusty but its good to have him back Lockyer 7 M.o.M solid, Parkes 5 a below par game, seems low on confidence Brown 5.5 not a wing back J.Clarke 5 his worst game Sinclair 6 lots of effort, little end product Lines 6.5 he has quality,he needs to get forward more O Clarke 4.5 annonymous Harrison 5 he had little service, looked disinterested Easter 6 a goal and so nearly two goals, he has quality but like Lines needs to show it more often
Bodin 6.5 two good feet, not sure what position he should play but put himself about Gosling 5 did little, just a squad player Taylor 4 not his day, maybe the Conference is his true level
Crowd 6 all these home defeats have taken their toll Ref 7.5 I wish all the refs were as good Pompey 8 a good confident side, comfortable on the ball.if the continue like this they'll be promoted

Nicholls 7 Leadbitter 7 Clarke 6 Lockyer 7.5 Parkes 3 Brown 6 Sinclair 5.5 Clarke O. 3 Lines 6.5 Harrison 3 Easter 6 Bodin 7.5 Gosling 5 Taylor 2 Crowd 7 Ref 7 Portsmouth 7 God you really have it in for Taylor! Not sure how you can rate him lower than Parkes. Taylor came on, ran around aimlessly not looking interested. Managed to get caught offside for the umpteen time this season and managed to win a header. A 2 all day long in my book, I also note I am not the only one to mention his uninterested body language, a regular feature of his play this season. Parkes was deserving of a 3 in my book due to the certain goal he saved, as fo r the rest of his performance, best forgotton.

Nicholls 6 did ok no chance with goals, a couple of smart saves.
Leadbitter 6 good first game back lacking match sharpness. J. Clarke 4 never got going esp passing. Lockyer 8 MOTM a rock at the back. Parkes 4 looks sluggish and woefully out of form. Macca to take his place next game. Brown 5 not at his best.
Sinclair 5 has the spirit and energy of a league player. But the creativity and vision of a non league player. O. Clarke 3 a boy in a mans game yesterday can do a lot better. Lines 6 good passing but sat to deep.
Harrison 4 spent his time in the defenders pocket. needs to be more hungrier to get on the end of crosses. Easter 5 good finish but not a lot else.
Subs: Bodin 6 needs to start up top. Gosling 5 no impact. Taylor 3 not a league player IMO.
Crowd 5 Ref 8 Portsmouth 8 top 3 for sure.

For the third game in a row, Tom Lockyer is Man of the Match with Lee Nicholls as runner-up. Neither this season nor last had any two players both been in the top two for three games in a row.
Last season four players achieved three MotM awards in a row but none made it to four in a row. Trotman, Parkes, Harrison and Lines were the four to achieve that. Arguably, Trotman came closest as he won 5 in 6 games, missing out by 0.1 in the game in-between.
The average score of the starting XI was 5.51 for this game, the third lowest this season.
As the Hartelepool game is our tenth league game of the season, I'll produce some season statistics after that game's ratings.
Nicholls 6.7
Leadbitter 6.5 J. Clarke 5.2 Lockyer 7.2 Parkes 3.9 Brown 5.2
Sinclair 5.7 O. Clarke 4.2 Lines 5.9
Harrison 4.6 Easter 5.4
Subs: Bodin 6.4 Gosling 4.8 Taylor 3.5
Crowd 5.7 Ref 7.1 Portsmouth 7.8
