Nicholls 7 played well
Leadbitter 7 Exposed too often J. Clarke 6 Steady Lockyer 8 My man of the match today Parkes 6 Has he got fat again? Brown 4 Poor
Sinclair Runs around a lot but is not a threat going forward O. Clarke 5 Not good today Lines 5 How did he get man of the match?
Harrison 4 Marked out of the game Easter 5 Well apart from his goal and hitting the post did very little
Subs: 7 Bodin What does he need to do to get a start? Gosling 5 Ran around Taylor 2 Should have stayed on the bench, Easter wasn't great but we looked more of a threat when he was on
Crowd 2x Irene and that was it. Too tense Ref 5 ok Portsmouth 8 Made us look non league. Oooops

Nicholls 8 class goalkeeper just wish he threw the ball out ( but does DC want him to ?)
Leadbitter 6 Very good for first game back - gave Pompey sthg to think about 2nd half and set up goal J. Clarke 5 steady, passing not always accurate Lockyer 7 strong performance, silly booking at the end Parkes 4 Like last week too slow and VERY careless with ball. Play Brown at Back and give Montano a start wide left Brown 5 His crosses were always from the deep - he can't play the role being asked
Sinclair 7 excellent covering tackles - without him I think Pompey would've scored more O. Clarke 5 ok but first touch let him down a couple of times Lines 6 good but no incision, that run early on - why oh why did he not attack the last defender ?
Harrison 6 good second half - got in their faces - don't remember him having a chance Easter 5 not that good first half, but then scored and then hit post but was rightly subbed as he was blowing
Subs: Bodin 6 slick skills but doesn't attack the box ! Gosling 4 Again doesn't look a threat Taylor not on long enough - but wasn't seen when he was out there
Crowd 6 good until Pompey got 2nd then deathly silent Ref 7 Good game Portsmouth 8 Looked a confident side, good movement, attacking threats and a proper target man ! Deserved the win - fair score.

Nicholls 7 A couple of good saves, no chance with the goals.
Leadbitter 5.5 Capable of much better, looked more hesitant to take on his man than normal J. Clarke 4 Fairly poor. Lockyer 8 MOTM easily for me. Consistent performer and a rock at the back. Parkes 2 p**s poor, gave the ball away too often. Brown 4 A couple of decent crosses.
Sinclair 5.5 Put a shift in but lacks quality. O. Clarke 4.5 Average. Lines 5.5 Needed to drive forward with the ball more often.
Harrison 4.5 Competed well in the air but offered little threat going forward. Easter 5 Not really seen first half but looked better 2nd half, shame he has no pace otherwise he would be decent.
Subs: Bodin 6 Caused a bit of a threat, good at finding the through balls, definitely a creator not a finisher. Gosling 4.5 Not enough impact on the game Taylor 4 Little impact on the game. Did well to win a header up against 2 Pompey defenders though.
Crowd 6.5 Fairly decent to start with but the perofmrance diminished this somewhat and the amount of gasheads I seen leaving before the final whistle was embarrassing. Ref 7.5 Don't remember much from him which tells you he had a good game. Portsmouth 7.5 Looked very good first half but average 2nd half, be surprised if they don't go up. Will probably win the league.

Nicholls 7 - a couple of good saves and confident Leadbitter 6 - great to have him back, a mixed game, at times very good but also looked lost positionally and unsure of his role Clarke 4 - thought he struggled today and didn't look league standard. No surprise he was subbed Lockyer 7.5 - struggled in the air against their big 17 but our best defender by a country mile Parkes 5 - his man scored the winner. I didn't think he was as bad as some are saying though Brown 6 - worked hard and thought he did ok Sinclair 5 - all action but quality is lacking. Clarke O. 4 - not a good day Lines 6 - needs a quality partner to get the best out of him. Need to see him 15 yards further up field. Harrison 5 - ok but asked to chase lost causes for much of the afternoon Easter 6 - nearly scored two. He is the best we have up front
Bodin 6 - like him, has something about him Gosling 5 - promises so much but then disappears for good chunks of the game Taylor 4 - out of his depth
Crowd 5 - after a good start, sitting in the middle of the Dribuild it was louder on the left than the right. Ref 8 - in control and no controversy. As it should be Portsmouth 9 - very good side. Much better than us

Nicholls 7 Made some good saves, moved the ball quickly and accurately
Leadbitter 7 Good return to the team, his pace is his greatest attribute J Clarke 5 Not at the same level as his early season performances, poor distribution and lacking quality today Lockyer 7.5 Solid, reliable, dependable, my MOTM for Rovers Parkes 4 Looking increasingly weak, doesn't look as fit as last year, slow, clumsy and his distribution was very poor Brown 6 Steady game, didn't contribute enough offensively
Sinclair 7 Busy with an excellent work rate but unfortunately he lacks quality and doesn't create enough O Clarke 4.5 A few good tackles early on but faded and became a little anonymous before substitution Lines 5 Made a few strong runs in the first half and some good touches but left his man for their first goal. Weak second half, went missing a little and left Sinclair exposed, I felt they ran rings around our midfield.
Harrison 4.5 Poor work rate and NO runs in behind to create a pass opportunity for the midfield Easter 5 Would have been 4 but got an extra point for the goal. Limited impact and like Ellis NO runs in behind
Bodin 6 A few good touches, would like to see more of him Gosling 5 Sorry I just don't see what Gosling offers the team, I would have rather seen Montano given a try Taylor 4 Made no contribution, service very poor BUT is the strokers movements that can create an opportunity none of the strikers movement was good enough
Crowd 6 Started well but faded as their frustration took its toll Ref 7 Decent Portsmouth 7.5 Best team I have seen, on a par with Leyton Orient, organised, great possession and good movement, looked fitter than us which is very unusual
DC: I thought his post match interview was spot on, we were not good enough today. We were lacking in quality and poor in terms of ball retention. We left a man in the box for their first goal (Lines) and failed to deal with their cross for the second. The better team won today and the pressure is building but looking at the squad other than one or two promising youngsters what options does he really have? This team needs some investment if we are to be top half let alone top 7 ...... we need a replacement for Parkes, one (or two) new strikers, a quality winger and possibly a central midfielder as I don't think Mansell or Clarke possess the quality for league 2, Sinclair is a a workhorse with a fantastic attitude but again he lacks the quality to hurt teams offensively and Lines just doesn't seem on it.

Nicholls 6 Confident game with some good saves
Leadbitter 5.5 Probably a game to early but had a reasonable game J. Clarke 5 Not one of his better games Lockyer 7 MoM Parkes 3 Beginning to think he has a problem with blue and white because he can't pass to anyone wearing it. Did not play well albeit a good clearance that prevented a goal Brown 5 Did reasonably well but can do better
Sinclair 5 Normal energetic game and won balls he had no business to, lacks a little quality at times O. Clarke 3 Did not play anywhere good enough Lines 5 Why does he take all free kicks, played to deep most of the game, not one of his better games. MoM a joke
Harrison 4 Better coming off the bench, tried hard but service to all strikers is rubbish Easter 4 As previous post, would have been 3 but for his goal and shot that hit the post, some good balls played and equally rubbish at times. No pace
Subs: Bodin 5 Tries to beat an opponent two or three times Gosling 3 No impact Taylor 3 No decent service but offered very little impact to the game
Crowd 5 As previous home game we deserve a lot better from the team Ref 7 Good game Portsmouth 7 Probably the best team we have played this season, however we made it to easy for them, their 23 was useful
DC Strange team selection after last weeks performance at Plymouth.

Sorry but I don't normal comment on here about players ,very easy when sat in the stands .but to say j Clarke was poor don't know what game some of you were watching he made one bad pass to leadbitter ,one over shot free kick and one miss control ,he got all his headers got all his tackles in no player got around him the pompy player that got there second could not get pass him so he mover over the other side for me the only thing he was guilty of was playing safe .passed short not long .tell me where was Lockyer in the the first 10 min when the player was on goal and a great save by the keeper and where was Lockyer and Parkers for the second goal they were both playing central half and that was player that could not get around j Clarke .but will say it was not his best but Dc Should have taken of parks not Clarke ,any way that's just my thought on the game no man of the match for me all about the same

I just thought he wasn't at his best yesterday, nothing personal. More people are laying into Parkesy. JC started the season brilliantly, but has looked a little less certain in the last couple of games but he will be alright. "Playing it safe" is often a sign of a little loss of confidence and it looked that way to me yesterday. Just an opinion though. Trust me, it can get pretty nasty on here - don't take it too personally !!!!
