lines and easter seem to be playing in a comfort zone 15 yards deeper than they should be for me,,why? does dc have a problem managing our bigger name players?
some of lines passing is a joy to watch but if he was further up the pitch he could play one twos with strikers and run at defences which he is clearly capable of doing. also why the hell does he take almost every set piece when brown mansell and gosling are just as good at them as him? easter is neat and tidy but too often much to deep and not a threat?
is dc bottling out of properly managing these 2?

I don't see a big problem with Lines.
Easter is either not match sharp or not interested. Not sure which.

Lines recently talked about how he plays deeper now he is getting older, and likes to link the play from the defense.
Which means we need an attacking threat to slot into the three. Portsmouth caused us a lot of problems having tricky players playing attacking midfield through the middle. That link between the midfield and the strikers is a must for us now.

Do we really need another thread having a pop at Chris Lines? How can Mansell take free kicks form the bench?
Why would DC have a problem managing Lines this season when he didn't seem to have a problem last season, as far as Easter I'm guess the rollicking he has at half time inspired him to his best 15 mins spell since he joined the club.

Yes, I thought Easter looked good for a while on Saturday. One of our better players. Not fantastic and not what so many were expecting in the fevered atmosphere of signing him, but better than I'm hearing from many on here.
Anyway, we go again tonight, so we'll see...
Or hear, in my case: I'm not travelling to Hartlepool as my huskies and sled are at the pawnbrokers.

Easter has been our only striker this season whose first touch and football brain enables him to hold the ball and bring others into play. On Saturday when he went off we had no-one upfront who held the ball and only Bodin in midfield who done so with a positive intention. I would keep Easter in the side and play him the whole 90 minutes. If he can't last that long then why are we employing him. DC does seem to always change one of the strikers mid 2 nd half regardless of how the game is going as if he is trying to keep all (3) of them happy.

Portsmouth caused us a lot of problems having tricky players playing attacking midfield through the middle. That link between the midfield and the strikers is a must for us now. The problem is, that in this position, he's about as useful as a chocolate teapot. He can't tackle - so pointless having him as a wall between the midfield and the defence He mainly passes side ways - meaning the ball goes back and forth around the area just in front of the back line; which can create problems if we give the ball away and offers zero creativity

Tbh I got fed up with the inconsistency of broadcasts and signed up to gasplayer for 4 quid a month, so I can listen on iPad.

Whether you like Lines or not he is certainly not our worst player by far. For a number of years now we have not been creating anywhere near enough goal scoring chances and have not had strikers of any quality to take what little opportunities come to us.
This was a major contributor to us losing league two status and almost lost us promotion back up, given the number of no or low scoring draws we had. We all see the shortcomings on the field but those in charge of the club still haven't managed to do anything about it and at this rate it will cost us yet another lost year.
We have potentially a sound defence, but they are constantly under pressure week in week out, and will of course let goals in as that's the nature of the game. Imagine what its like to know that if you do, then the chances of getting back into the game with one or two of your own are slim. We had Leadbitter back on Saturday playing well forward, but he barely got a cross in. Compare that to Portsmouth who posed a threat the whole match with balls coming in from wide regularly resulting in both their goals.
DC has got to sort it out as ultimately he is responsible, and i really hope he is capable of doing so or he will simply lose his job, as the board rarely take any responsibility for playing matters other than rolling out the usual that there is money available to the manager!
Real money to buy better players would be nice but its rarely the complete answer, its also how we are set up tactically to play and i am not convinced we have that right.
Here's hoping for a good performance and a good result tonight.

More importantly. Can D.C. manage a football league club? He does struggle.

What we really need his Mansell to step up to the plate or, if league football is mow beyond him, then move on and allow a replacement to take his place.

I think Easter has to come deep to get the ball,if someone was there to thread a good through ball I'm sure he would be on the last man I think Ellis has been lazy this season when starting and doesn't look interested, coming on as sub looks a handful once defenders have tired a bit He needs a rocket up his arse, maybe he will start trying a bit more when the transfer window is near;) I think he thinks he's bigger than the club

Easter is either not match sharp or not interested. Not sure which. I watched him in the warm up on saturday and I think the latter is definitely true, and is probably affecting the former...
