That's how he has been described by a Pools' fan on facebook. Brilliant to read such a review for Jake. Lets hope he kicks on and holds down a regular place in the side.

Fair play to him.
I have doubts over him being good enough for this level, but I'd love to be proved wrong and it sounds like he started to do that with last night's performance.
He has got talent, for sure.

On his day he is superb but like so many lower league wingers he's too inconsistent and we don't see that side of him enough.
You'd assume that after such a dominant win, Clarke will play the same team Saturday. (Although we all know he does like to tinker) This is Goslings chance to cement his place on the team sheet and I really hope he takes it. Same goes for Bodin as he's looked really lively last few games.
We've been lacking decent wingers for as long as I can remember so hopefully they both can really kick on from here.

This is great. Unfortunately though for most Rovers players, you are only as good as your last game.... In some players case you can be as good as your last memorable moment.

Problem with JG is that he's shockingly inconsistent even by Div 2 standards, last season he was brilliant at Torquay and then good inthe following home game, good in the FGR Play Off games but that's about it, this season he's hardly gone anything that then looked OK re Pompey, he now really needs a decent run of good performances

He can't have a decent run of good performances without a decent run of starts, so hopefully he'll get that now and we'll know a bit more about whether he can make it in the league. Hope so.

I dont think its any coincedence that all our attacking players had good games due to the change in shape and formation. Both strikers grabbed a goal, and Bodin and Gosling looked good.
Results and performances like this happen when you play an attacking, creative formation to your players strengths.
I hope we stick with it and dont go back to the 3-5-2 formation, where we looked toothless

I listened to the Radio Bristol commentary for a bit of the game and when I had it on, Keith Brookman said he had had a conversation with Harrison the week before who told him that Gosling and Bodin can do things with the ball in training that no-one else in the squad can so the talent is obviously there.

It's worth remembering that he has only just turned 22, that's a development player. He's 5 years or so from his peak years.
You have to expect inconsistency, he's still learning his trade.

Unfortunately if Gosling seals a place in the side he will soon be off for Gibraltar again and then find himself back on the bench. In all honesty if I were him I would concentrate on my bread and butter football by holding on to my place rather than playing for a Country who have no chance in hell of doing anything. He could easily find himself without a club and still playing for Gibraltar which would be very sad.

You're joking aren't you?The chance to be on the same pitch as the world champions or a squad place (which seems to be his role with us this season)in a league 2 outfit. No chance that anyone in their right mind would follow the route that you are suggesting.

I would say it's a fantastic opportunity for his development

SteveK, you seem to be happy for developing good players to sit as one of 7 on the bench (eg. JL,LG) rather than gain experience/battle-hardness elsewhere. This second option will be more valuable to Rovers as these young players develop, surely.

And if he didn't play for Gibralatar then he wouldn't have playing against the world champions on his CV and scoring against Poland other than that what can he really say at club level? He got promoted into the football league and had a few good games against the likes of Torquay, Alfreton and Hartlepool etc.

So playing the odd game now and again for a poor Gilbraltar side is better than attempting to seal a regular place in a League 2 team. Sorry but for me it is Bristol rovers who pay his wages and i would want to play every game for my club. All about opinions.

Tbf I can see where stevek192 is coming from with this one. But he'll tell his children and grandchildren about playing Germany - where as I'm not sure he'll be eulogising about his matches in League Two v Accrington and Mansfield.

Surely Steve, it's not so much about playing for Gilbraltar, it's about playing international football for Gilbraltar against some of the biggest nations in some of the biggest stadia. The chance for a league 2 player to gain that kind of experience and inspiration can only aid his development. The player benefits and in doing so the club benefits too. You're entitled to your opinion, but would say you are being short sighted. You can't put a value on what all of this will do for Gosling's growth as a footballer.

I agree with stevek192, how does mostly sitting on the bench for a glorified pub team aid his development or help him grow as a footballer?
