Don't you think that the fact we've not had a problem with anyone else kind of sums it up?
Let's not glamourise it with the word censorship. From day one on here you've made your intentions very clear. And quite frankly I don't get why you use this forum as you don't want debate, your aim has always been to slander this forum, those that run it, and other users too. Even if the post in question didn't do that your previous actions are what led to these things being interpreted in a different way.
None of us think abuse the power. We have discussed long and hard what to do about you because as I said, your intentions have always been clear. Quite simply the best way for everyone to make a stand against us (if anyone else believes we abuse our 'powers'), would be to leave. But I would be dissapointed and surprised if anyone else felt that we were being this way as we are all in agreement that we wish to allow everyone to post what they wish.
We have warned you and we have explained these reasons and yet you still went out of your way to do things you knew would get a rise. If you continue to do this then the outcome is likely to be the same.
This very post proves that you only have one goal, this is a Rovers debate forum. Think about how you are talking to people. For example, your response about tattoos was rude. I have none but may do one day and, anyone that does have tattoos will have undoubtably taken offence because what you said, yes was an opinion, but was not voiced in a polite way. I don't want people coming on here all to be loved up and don't expect it but there's no need for it.
Please stop posting things like this. How can you get anything out of it? Just message us directly it you wish to do this. This is a forum for Rovers discussion and not one to moan at mods that have done very very little of what you claim.

I apologized for my response on the Divide thread, it was ill judged and poorly thought out.
I appreciate that you have indeed been on much better form of late Oldie, but unfortunately it may take a while to recover some lost ground.
It's easy to post a provoking thread then claim later it was just a joke and play the victim.
Personally, I don't want to see any threads deleted but sometimes you have to make a judgement based on limited knowledge.
The judgement of a moderating team is built on and improves over time. It can be based on gut instinct or on knowing someone (even if only online) over a sustained period. It's not an exact science and we may get things wrong.
Unfortunately, many of your early posts here were deliberaty inflammatory so you are as much to blame as whoever deleted your posts.
This IS still your forum, but that doesn't always mean you can post what you like. Just as in real life we should moderate ourselves to the best of our ability. I appreciate that all of us may get it wrong sometimes.
We moderate and run this forum in our own time and we have put a lot of work in. We are bound to be defensive of it. I am sure in time, we will all be more confident of ourselves and more comfortable with difficult things.
It's a very public learning curve. It can also be made much more difficult for us.
We are only human.

For what it's worth I would like to give my unqualified support to Ras, Fanboy and the other mods. Keep up the good work guys.
Oldie, when you choose to, you are more than capable of intelligent, reasoned debate. For some reason, you choose instead to to be blunt at best and rude and offensive at worst.
What you say is valued, the way you say it isn't.
To claim censorship in the circumstances makes you look even more foolish.

Really? Define my "goal". I agree it is a rovers debate forum, perhaps you should remind your fellow moderator re teddy bears and spiders. In any event debate by definition is two parties presenting different propositions on a subject. You are deleting one because you don't like it, that's not debate.

Make no mistake Oldie, if you deserve to be banned you will be.
The problem with the OF were that bannings were handed out simply because someone slagged off the club or chairman. That I agree is ridiculous.
Also, posts and threads that were reasoned and fair were often deleted simply because they dared to slate the club.
Both of those were ridiculous things to ban people or delete posts for.
However, simply posting things in order to get a rise from fellow forum members, slagging people off for their views in an unconstructive manner or, personally abusing posters will not - in ANY circumstances - be tolerated.
Since day 1, you have done nothing but "troll" this forum. If you continue to do so, for the benefit of all the other users on this forum, you will be banned so that the "enjoyment" of one troll does not ruin the enjoyment of the numerous other people who use this forum in the spirit intended.
Let's be honest, it's not like you'd actually care as, from day 1, you've made it clear of your intentions.
Consider this another formal warning. Shape up or you will be shipped out.

I really see this as an example where the mods here are actually ganging up on the one poster. Please can you PM an example of the trolling ? I read oldies posts with interest as he has knowledge of the inner workings of the club and of the share scheme in particular.
I wish this place was just more able to shrug things off. I enjoy both of the main forums but this one seems to get the hump so very quickly UNLESS the wind up or joke is started by one of the mods.
In honesty, why not just let it go. These repeated warnings and threats of banning just look bad IMO. Again, it starts to feel more like a club for favoured members rather than an open forum.
Can we all just calm down now and leave it please ? There is no need to carry this on eh.

I can see it from both side( must be gentlemans appendage-eyed  ), On the OF a lot of my posts were seen as antagonistic, and led to a few warnings and arguments etc. but I would always explain why I disagreed if asked, Oldie I enjoy some of your posts, and others I wouldn't wipe with bog roll if they were on the carpet in front of me, but im glad they are allowed to be posted. I think the issues is that yourself and the mods have strong characters so clashes will be inevitable, on the OF I have had disagreements with all the mods on here, people have different tolerance levels and morals, beliefs etc. but when calmed down will carry on talking to everyone, from the mods side this is a new forum still finding its way in the online world so are a bit sensitive,Look at it another way it's their baby and they are proud of it, to them its like looking into the pram and saying wow that baby is one ugly mofo, they are going to react, tis the way of the world. Thing to remember is don't take anything said on a forum personally, that goes for everyone, also Oldie if you want a debate that's a bit feisty try posting it in the gentleman's lounge so it can only be seen by people logged in, another thing is I used to admin a biker forum, people think being a mod is all cakes and biscuits believe me its a real pain in the ass, as you have to on occasion don the mod hat, and say hold on thats against the rules you would be surprised how many people see those actions as a personal attack when in reality is merely a mod doing his modding, what i used to do was if i had to comment as a mod i would put <<dons mod hat>> at the start of a reply and <<removes said hat and am now a swamp donkey again>>, the reason i did this was so people knew what was me doing my job and i found posters wouldn't then rip and start threads, going to stfu now and have a quick home brew I realise the above post is reasonable and rational for that i apologise, normal water-taking mode will be resumed after i bang my head againt the wall |
