We were a much better team in a 4-4-1 than the 5-3-2 (or 3-5-2). Mansfield had the 5-3-2 sussed straightaway, pressed hard and most of the action was at the top corners of our penalty area as we scrambled to get the ball away. Much more evenly balanced with 4 at the back and 4 in the middle and an even end to end contest - these subtleties overshadowed by the all the other shenanigans. Also not sure why a bunch of our fans went to Mansfield just to bounce up and down in front of the stewards, keeping police occupied as well. They seemed more preoccupied with how entertaining they were and couldn't have seen much of the game. Weird and embarrassing like Easter's dive.

Lines a passenger in the first half, clarke much more effective second half. Glad we still had two strikers on after the break, i got the feeling clarke thought the ref may even things up so we had more attacking options later on whereas mansfield gambled everything using the 3 subs early.

Agree with you and the changes were inspired but I was nervous about the choice of 5-3-2 from the start and the first 15 minutes (and most of the first half) showed the weakness of that formation. I guess it won't be used for the next two games at least. Your comment on Lines reminded me how much I laughed (ironically) when he got a yellow card for a tackle, minutes after we were bellowing at him for not trying to take the ball back after he lost it. Pleased to see O'Clarke put in a composed performance and the killer cross.

As far as i'm concerned lines is now the weak link in the squad, every other player has reacted positively when they lose their place and battles to get it back. Lines thinks he has a divine right to be in there, clarke won't tolerate that and has the bottle to make tough decisions. Thankfully we have learnt our lessons and lines only has a one year contract. Yes back to 4-4-2 tues i reckon and hopefully the return of bodin and gosling. Gosling most improved player this year for me.

How we won that game I'll never know! Mansfield were far superior to us and created many more opportunities. They should have seen us off whilst down to 10 but we got lucky. Our cheating and moaning is going to cost us if we don't cut it out and its painful to watch tbh. I tip Mansfield to make top 3 based on what I witnessed. They were unlucky today and I sympathize with their fans and manager.

We were lucky ? Cheating and moaning ? Ok let's put a few things straight Mansfield were no angels they jumped for the ball with elbows leading . From every corner it was more like a game of rugby but we resisted there constant holding onto shirts I can honestly say I thought our keeper had a fairly quiet afternoon Yes Easter dived but it was there player who then grappled him With a stronger referee they could have more than 2 sent off I applaud this set of players you don't loose only once in 26 away games just playing pretty football I also applaud the tremendous turnout and support the noisy Gasheads made

They had a lot of possession first half and looked dangerous but didn't create many clear cut chances. Second half we wound them up and they fell for it, this is a tough physical league and so often in the past we have been out muscled and overpowered by teams like mansfield. Clarke is now playing teams like that at their own game and has the nous to change things and throw the opposition. We are not going to be bullied out of games with clarke in charge.

Not really sure why DC recalled Lines but I doubt he feels he has a divine right to play, just tackling has never been his strongest asset, the fact DC sub me off at half time suggests he won't mess around. Not sure Bodin will return on Tuesday if he had swelling to his knee yesterday as surely that will take at least a week to subside?

Was Chris Lines substituted for his own performance or more likely because we had gone down to 10 men? Happens a lot that when a team go down to 10 they sacrifice a more creative player to "shore up" the side.

They were unlucky today and I sympathize with their fans and manager. We weren't great and were lucky to be 1 up at ht. I am livid with Easter for diving when he was through on goal, however he shouldn't have been sent off. At ht we were in a difficult position having not played well and down to 10 men because one of our players tried to cheat rather than have the courage to take his chance. Credit to DC for changing things and recognising that all was not good despite leading. Harrison made an immediate impact and we were much better with 10 than we had been with 11. There is no doubt that we did feel agreived with the referee and wanted to even things up. The Mansfield manager called it right though when he said the ref lost control early on and never had had it for the rest of the game. The early on incident when he lost it was when Lines got floored after getting elbowed straight in the face, and he gave nothing. Started play after Lines treatment with a drop ball. The referee caused all the drama with an utterly incompetent display. He managed to wind up every player on the pitch, both benches and the fans of both teams. We won mainly because our manager had a much better game than theirs. He saw where we were weak and changed it, whilst theirs put all of his subs on early in the second half and ended up with 7 effective players on the pitch when his keeper and defender got injured going for the same ball. It all made for an exciting afternoon and there is nothing better than a 98th minute winner.

Yes Easter dived but it was there player who then grappled him ... Still struggling to understand why McGuire (the guy who grabbed Easter) was not booked. But, Jermaine. If you are going to dive, make it a bit more subtle than that.
