Did Keary celebrate? Though he was going to be one for the future. Shame really. Shirt over his head and swan dived into the home terrace I heard. Not sure if anyone can confirm?

That's a very attacking formation but is it allowed within the rules of the game?

Pat was part of a group of youngsters with real potential. Keary, Southway, Gough, Goddard, Harding et al. It was gutting to see them leave without really having the opportunity to prove their worth. The simple fact is they were collateral damage from our relegation. I think given time they would have proved assets for us. For young players to ease into a Professional side is hard enough, but to slot into a failing side with the pressure that applies must be awful, they never really stood a chance.
I'll personally follow their progress with interest.
I see Jordan Goddard also scored on debut for Leamington last night versus a strong Cheltenham side, good for him.

I dont understand our decision to release Keary, he has been well thought of at the club. Maybe DC wanted rid of anyone he could to boost his options? Im certain he will end up in league football.

We have two friendlies coming up against league opposition I am sure we will see something closer to our line up then. Time to panic after that, not now I don't want to start panicking, but I am very concerned that just a few weeks before the season starts, we have a squad of about 15 and are still playing triallists. Time is running out, and we haven't made any kind of signing which might inspire the fans. I know we're not going to get big names, but we seem, at the moment, rather unready for the rigours of the Conference. On that dark day in May when we watched our club fall into the hell of non-league, we all might have hoped that by July 19th we'd have been a bit further forward in creating a promotion squad than we now seem. Still a few weeks to go to identify players, sign them, integrate them into the team, work out tactics etc. No panic yet. Just a few light beads of sweat on the brow.

If Daz sticks in our so say starting 11 and we get completely dicked will that do the team and the fans any good? A couple of comfortable wins against lower opposition with time to pass the ball around get settled and score some bloody goals may have been more beneficial.....IMO.

Based on our recent history I would have expected us to be nowhere near ready by now. However, Clarke made bold statements about how good he is and how he will have the squad ready for pre season and thats where he made his second big mistake (after getting us relegated). If he lasts in the job he will learn over time to not raise our hopes or expectations.

What we need is another protest group, that will sort it out and give a few people the chance to look important. Or...we could support the team and the manager and see what happens when the league starts ? two hard games, lets see where we stand after them eh ?

As I said to people like you last season, if you dont want people to express an opinion on how we are going to do or how we are doing, is there really any point in having a fans forum ?. At least people expressing opinions you dont like gives you an excuse to use the internet for something other then porn once in a while. For what its worth I dont want any protests groups just a supporters club that is not beholden to Tony, Geoff, Barry and Nick.

I only use this place for something to do while my porn is buffering. True story.

Good post. I really don't want the first match our starting 11 play together to be the Grimsby game.

I thought Clarkes comments post Bath game re first choice players and not wanting them to get injured playing games like this, interesting. So what happens if a couple of players get injured in the first month? The club does not have great track record on injuries over the last few years does it.

I have been thinking about our predicament through the night. I have concluded that once again we are trying to do things on the cheap. DC, as a young, keen manager, would not want/choose to be in this state of readiness at this stage of the season. We are nowhere near where we should be. Everybody must know this. Some of the trialists out there yesterday don't know what their future holds yet however some of them might be BRFC players playing their first game for us in 20 days time. There will no doubt be a few late arrivals(there has to be if we are going to have a squad) and we are primed for the ready made excuses. Players will be finding their feet, not match fit, not used to the level/expectations of the club/still boding with team mates etc etc etc.
Now, none of this means we will have a bad season. But it is not ideal. No offence to those I spoke to yesterday(Some on here) but tales of knocking it around nicely against Chelts plus a few slick spells yesterday against Bath, do not get us anywhere in a competitive game against Grimsby in 20 days time. We do not have long for our team to be ready in all respects, know their duties, be fully conversant with eachother and comfortable in the Qtrs. We have to hit the ground running because I sense that some of our fans are going to give it a try for a few weeks before washing their hands with it. There are jurys out all over the place.
Tomorrows QnA is just as likely to further disillusion the support as it is unite it. I wonder if the BoD have a game plan? They need one imo because one thing for sure is that if some of those pre questions get HONEST answers, there will(should) be a riot. We are in a mess and some of our opponents must be rubbing their hands looking at our preperation thus far.
Praying and hoping for a massive alteration in conduct over the next 2 weeks to give us any chance. All my own opinion based not on facts but on what I can see and hear.

Since when did our BoD, or more particularly NH have a plan, other than the UWE? Unless NH is going to announce the UWE start date (unlikely in my view) or a major new signing (which is possible from DC's post match comments), then it seems madness trying to take on 150 fans baying for blood.
On the playing front I'm assuming DC will put out his strongest squad against Yeovil & Coventry, if so, that will give the players chance to "gell"?

Dinsdale, You really do think you are the only one with an opinion ? guess what, I don't like your opiniuion but I would fight for your right to have it, not make stupid remarks about your use of the internet, if everything you have to say on the subject is so childish I best not bother reading them, that will save hours a day as you seem to suffer forum diarrhoea.

Good post my friend, I don't WANT to criticise anyone but i just don't think we're ready not in any area of the club, i really do hope i'm proved wrong. Darrell is mainly coming in for stick because whether some like it or not he is going back on some of his promises. Now, the trouble is in my mind due to the club not being prepared he has actually had no way of fulfilling his promises, and as a result of us (as a club) dilly dallying around sorting budgets etc we're now unfortunately going to have to get in players from those left available, and i would imagine our philosphy of "Lower wages, plat for the shirt" may have to go out the window now just to field a squad. You are right about the crowds too in my opinion, i can see us getting 6-7k first match in a new league (we should walk some will say) and new seasons always bring new belief, but many i feel are on the edge now and whether we like it or not they'll find something better to do on Saturdays. I hate to apply the pressure, but this coming month or two really could send us into a downward spiral if we don't get it right........Let's just all hope Darrell walks as good as he talks, then we'll all be happy. UTG

some great posts gents....
I guess this is the season where we will find out if our 5-6000 hardcore support is actually that hardcore....
I've got my season ticket, but for the first time in my life I bought it rather begrudgingly....
we shall see....

He told us all a couple of months ago that by the 30th of June he wants most of his squad together. Either he has not got the contacts he said he has or the board are reluctant to back his judgements.
