I can't even bring myself to acknowledge that other thread with a response.
I've been supporting Bristol Rovers since 1995 and during that time we've had too many managers to remember. We've had club legends return and none were able to bring us glory.
During these 20 years only 3 managers bought a continued period of exciting football:
- Holloway - Trolls - Clarke
Of these only 2 have won us a promotion:
- Trolls - Clarke
Not a single manager has been directly "poached" by a higher club. All left by "mutual consent," due to personal reasons or were fired.
Darrell Clarke is something we haven't seen much at Rovers. A quality manager. With a long future in the game.
I sincerely believe he's the best manager we've had during my time supporting the Gas.
DC is nobody's fool. We are where we are.
Whilst we put in a rare defensive clanger this Saturday, we have been competitive in every game this season. Saturday is not the end of the world.
We've got a great chance to do something good this season- just need to sharpen up the attack and we'll be alright.
Confident we'll achieve top 7.

Before the smart asses reply:
I am aware that Clarke is the only manager to see us into non-league. But his hands were somewhat tied by previous managers mistakes.

Yeah, even if we don't make the play-offs this season, it's blindingly obvious the team is going in the right direction, and we're gradually undoing many of the bad things that have happened over the past few years. I don't really mind if it does take time. Progress is progress and that's the exact opposite of what had been happening for years before DC became manager.

Plus sometimes it's hard to forget that we've only been in this division for a few months, who were we playing this time last year?

I certainly think he is the man for the job. For some reason, too often one poor result and the doubters creep in.
The season is long; there will be set backs along the way no matter who is at the helm, however I hope to think we are on course for mid-table/play off push.
Home form is a concern, but on the flip side; away form is impressive! Some interrogation into the home form dip could be worthwhile however there certainly is no reason to doubt Darrell for the foreseeable.
Have faith in this man Gasheads, some optimism wouldn't go amiss! Following some managers we have had over the past few years, I daren't utter a bad word about DC.

He's still learning and like all managers he will make mistakes but I wouldn't swap him for any other manager in league 2.
I think he has a bright future ahead of him and it's crazy this is even a topic of conversation.
I had doubts about Clarke this time last season but he proved me wrong and I'm delighted we're now talking about what we can achieve in league 2 and not whether we can compete in the Conference.

Got to give DC time, he's trying out modern tactics and we're steadily getting better. There'll be a few more bumps along the way but he deserves 100% support from us if he can't get it from elsewhere.

Rubbish teams That we still struggled to beat most of the time Ah yes, that would make perfect sense. I wondered how we obtained one of our highest point totals in our entire history. Logically it of course must have been because we struggled to win games.

Away games for most of the last 15 years have been horrific, little enthusiasm for a result, letalone any decent football. Not under DC...

Great to see a positive thread, we should all get behind DC and the team and accept that there will be bad days but we are going in the right direction. Honestly believe we will be in the mix for the play offs come the spring

Best thing to happen to our club for years. Hes been a breath of fresh air and lets never forget where we were at the end of john wards time here. They were dark days.
He could well be one of those things where you don't realise what youve got until its gone. With time, this man could take us to the championship and I really do believe that

Before the smart asses reply: I am aware that Clarke is the only manager to see us into non-league. But his hands were somewhat tied by previous managers mistakes. Just saying but if he'd won more league home game during our relegation season he wouldn't have needed to get us promotion. "Not a single manager has been directly "poached" by a higher club. All left by "mutual consent," due to personal reasons or were fired" Not sure what this statement means as DC's not been poached either so far, so he could just as easily join the others as he could be poached?

The other thread boils my waters and I am embarrassed by it. It is a poor way to treat someone who has done so much for our club.

The title of the other thread is a quote from one of the forum trolls. It is not worth getting worked up over. He gets enough attention as it is.

This argument has been done to death I know but it does fascinate me that people genuinely blame dc for our relegation! He had no influence on any of the olayers brought in and was given a handful of games with an appaling squad low on confidence.

Unfortunately I think we have the kinda fans where they will call for the managers head when the going gets tough, so I hope for our sake more than DC's that we don't have a bad rough patch as it will certainly be our loss.
