To cut a long story short I started a job back at the end of August and was told I would be paid on a monthly basis, come mid September everyone was let go but the company is still running. Over the course of the two weeks I worked I put in more than 120 hours work so you can see why I'd be disappointed if at the end of September only £120 went into my bank.
I rang up the company and the bloke basically said he'll check it up and ring back, which he did and he said they only had me down for two days so will have to check with the manager at the time. The manager was the one who drove me into work and home again so he knew I worked more than that and the bloke rang back saying that there's an error on their end but they can only pay out the rest at the end of October.
(It's worth noting the manager and his son were also let go)
I rang the bloke a few days ago just to get confirmation and he said it would be in today, as in early morning Friday, "usually around 3am"
So I wake up today and nothing. They haven't paid me the rest and I'm starting to get worried. I don't start my new job till two weeks time and even that is just temp, and I've already waited long enough for these guys to pay me.
I hadn't signed a contract, but apparently as long as I had a verbal agreement which I did with the manager who would also back me up then I may have a successful chance of taking this further.
I'm going to give the bloke a ring when it hits 9 but does anyone know if I can take this further?

Baseball bat. It won't get you your money, but when the bloke is recovering in hospital from his two broken legs, it might make him think about doing this again to someone else. Apologies if some think I'm being a bit limp-wristed about this.

Anyone in the company who knows that your pay has been withheld is liable to prosecution. A call to Citizen advice may be a good idea or your trade union if your a member.

If you feel you can remain calm and reasonable I would go there in person and politely request a bank transfer or a check while you wait.
Its much harder to lie to someone face to face and harder to fob someone off.
You may need to do this more than once.

Write down what you're going to say on the first sheet of a wad of paper you give to him. Get him to add a short sentence here and there (even if its repeating what you said). If they have money to pay out, they generally assume the guy in the suit can cause them more grief in the future. Good luck

Also record any conversation on your mobile, tell them you are doing it. They are less likely to lie that way.

Also record any conversation on your mobile, tell them you are doing it. They are less likely to lie that way. A good way to do that is something along the lines of saying "...date....time...meeting with..." and then "...I'm just going to put this here..." before placing it on the table

Firstly I'd do what Hugo said, go around in person, if you don't get anywhere have a read of this. Failure to pay outstanding wages is potentially viewed as an unlawful deduction from wages. If you have been unsuccessful in dealing with this matter informally with your employer than you may wish to raise a complaint in writing using the grievance procedure, the first step of which is to put your complaint in writing to your employer. If, following the completion of the grievance procedure you have still not received the outstanding wages you may wish to lodge a claim with the Industrial Tribunal . Where a problem or disagreement in the workplace is likely to lead to a tribunal claim the Labour Relations Agency will often be able to help employers and employees find a solution that is acceptable to both. This service is known as Pre-Claim Conciliation. It can save you the time, stress and expense normally associated with a tribunal claim. You can find out more about Pre-Claim Conciliation at the following link or by contacting our Helpline service: www.lra.org.uk/index/resolving-disputes/pre-claim_conciliation.htmFurther information on deductions from wages is available in the Labour Relations Agency Information Note 7 - Protection of Workers in relation to Wage Deductions by and Payments to Employers using the following link Information Note -Deductions from wages by employers See nidirect(opens new window) and nibusinessinfo(opens new window)

Apologies if some think I'm being a bit limp-wristed about this. You might as well tickle him with a feather if your going to be limp wristed with a baseball bat! In all serious though how are you getting on Mr Balotelli? A friend has just come up against a similar problem.

Money went in today. After I got passed around from person to person with no answers, I passed them onto my old man who's a bit more aggressive and knowledgeable, and it was in my account the next day. Thanks for all the advice
