Hi oldie

Hugo it wasn't a dig at you , you have met me a few times and am sure you know by now if i was going to say something to you directly i would so bearing that in mind hugo you still smell and your muh still dresses you funny .

i've admined and modded sites over the years one thing i always did was if i was acting in a mod or admin capacity i would use <mod mode on> then <mode mode off> . this let users know that i was replying as a mod not a normal poster which worked well as it let people know i may agree or disagree with what i was posting but it had to be done as a mod or admin. kinda separated the roles. and for me it helped out when i had bad days and it felt like everyone wa on my back,so was able to seperate the replies to stuff i said as me and stuff i said as a mod/admin.
Another thing we used to do especially with banning for a period of time was, if a mod wanted someone banned it was posted in the mod forum and would be discussed in the mod forum, action was taken on a majority rules basis, where mods would discuss reasons for and against, this worked really well as it let posters know that the mods/admin acted as one. and had majority support, this did calm the forums down as posters realised that it wasn't a vendetta by one mod/admin(how many times has that been leveled at each of you ) .
Another thing is people get used to other posters i hate the word clique, and peoples humour comes through, to others this could look like a favorites club, if someone wants a topic to stay on topic, then it's simple to add a line to a opening post along the lines of ON TOPIC REPLIES ONLY PLEASE. which signals that the op wants the thread to be serious and allows mods to cut posts that drift, it also shows posters that if they go too far ot then the post will go simples.
I'm guilty of going ot on threads its just the way my brain works., i also like a good discussion
I also like this side of the forum and spend a fair bit of time here as things get a fair crack of the whip in regards to discussions ,humour etc. need to get the kettle on now and find me meds
