We have problems if we can't score goals and we can't keep them out either. If Brunt is injured it means we need two strikers, two wingers and a central defender as wella s a full back if Smith goes.

Well the bod best not back down on the fee wanted The fee is irrelevant if it's not spent on players.

Injuries are not an excuse. Well, that's what I was told anyway. On the bright side, we don't have to play league giants Yeovil every week. Bring on Grimsby.

I thought you positive about this season after last night!
Let's face it the squad is far inferior to last season's and that team would have struggled in the Conference.
We urgently need a creative midfielder plus a winger, and possibly a striker to replace Brunt or at least as back up

Me? I have certainly not mentioned any positivity about the season ahead! I was fairly satisfied with the QnA. The important ingredient this time regardless of the team is DC. If his bite is as vicious as his bark we will be alright. If not, we are deep in the brown stuff.

No, I meant Dinsdale, not sure about DC he talks a good game but games are won on the pitch not in interviews, his results since taking over have been shocking, almost as bad as Penney's, who was another my way or the highway merchant.

Ryan Brunt @bruntyy 42s So good to play in the game tonight, came off just to tight shin! Knee is fine! Ps didn't mean to tweet the link!! #UTG
Good news there. My concern is Mansell, I really hope that was more precaution too but with our recent injuries you can never be sure.

I thought we played some decent football in the first half. Players passed the ball with confidence. Ryan Higgins put in a good shift bombing up and down as a wing-back. I was a little concerned that we hoofed too many balls up to Brunt instead keeping the ball on the ground. He didn't look injured when he came off thankfully, we really need him to stay fit. Once he went off we started to spread the ball out wide.
All we need now is someone with the confidence to have a shot on goal!

Good effort to the Gas who attended the game for trying to inject some atmosphere. I watched the game from the Yeovil stand and the locals were impressed with the singing. Closing the home end didn't help the atmosphere but Yeovil fans didn't attempt to sing a single song all game.

That was the first pre season friendly I could get to and I am glad I made the effort.
I thought the game was very entertaining and the players all put in a good shift. We did play some neat, slick passing football but rarely threatened to beat Weale in the Yeovil goal.
I liked the look of Thompson as he looks a good prospect but unfortunately I would be surprised if he got a contract because of our budget constraints and we need goals from the start and need someone proven.
I thought the Gas following was very supportive and the event and crowd was a good preview of the season to come - easy to park, easy to get in and little atmosphere particularly from the home crowd
At the end the PA announcer wished us a speedy return to the league, not sure if it was a nice touch or patronising.....

Cheers Sean. I was waiting for your views on the game. Without meaning to come across in anyway in particular, I cannot get too fussed by the excitement or the doom at this stage. If we had won this game 2-0 it would have been equally tiresome for me reading some of the euphorics that would no doubt have appeared. Obviously, it would be better for morale if we looked in better shape than we currently do!

Just got back, not a bad game, with a Yeovil mate so sadly sat in the wrong end, but interesting to hear the Yeovil fans talk about the players, heard someone say ollie Clarke was a very good player, etc, trialists came off for Yeovil and they naturally started looking as they should, being a couple leagues higher, but rovers had some good flowing movements, final ball a bit lacking but I'm impressed with the play, Sinclair is looking to me like a good signing... Also thought rovers were in good voice*, so much so that one Yeovil fan sat behind me shouted "can you hear bristol sing" and 3 or 4 others responded with "yes".... Made me laugh.
*or as much as can be expected from a few hundred after relegation at a preseason friendly

Here goes with my take on tonights game. Played some decent stuff first half, nice to see us spreading the ball right and left and passing our way out of defence. Personally not impressed with Brunt who battled hard, but was let down by his first touch on several occasions. As soon as Clarke and Brunt left the field we looked a far more creative outfit, Sinclair excellent and Thompson streets ahead of Brunt, excellent first touch and laying off the ball and speedy with it. The back three in our 3 5 2 of Lockyer, Parkes and McChrystal were very solid but were let down by our wing backs and midfield for both Yeovil goals. Gary Johnson clearly strengthened his team at the break and ordered them to counter attack quickly which exposed the lack of pace of Brown and to a lesser extent Higgins who looks a decent player. Not convinced by Gosling or Clarke, Mansell was tidy although am a little concerned about his injury, put his hand up immediately to come off. BothTaylor and White impressed me but Harrison did not. To sum up, more than matched an understrength Yeovil in the first half, caught cold for the first ten minutes off the second by a much stronger line up, but then matched them until the end, White and Thompson both unlucky not to score with good efforts. I for one, having seen the game tonight am looking forward to the season ahead. Trotman did not feature off the bench, is he the new Cb DC has said he needs? Two fast wingers on his list and definately needed.
