This thread is some kind of joke right? No matter how bad their redevelopment seems, it's still a teeny bit better than ours! Yeah, low post count, deliberate own goal. Sheed. I expect the same poster is on OTIB saying 'Look at this stupid thread!'

This thread is some kind of joke right? No matter how bad their redevelopment seems, it's still a teeny bit better than ours! Calling it a sh1t hole is because it will be it clearly wont be. Mr Lansdown is spending tens of millions on upgrading the grounds for corporate types so it becomes the South west premier blah blah venue. But that is the problem City wont fill it and will it be the South wests top football stadium when its more a quiet theatre for corporate types?

Noticed lots of there fans went dressed as empty seats when they played Hull last week..! Be interesting to see how many turn up when they ar back in League 1 next Season..!! Only 14,500 , if we were in the Championship we would easliy get over 20,000 week in week out. Red for sure

That's where I'm proud to be a blue. Our crowds don't change. We don't get 30/40% less fans if we get relegated unlike those and we don't suddenly get an extra 30/40% fans when we get promoted

During our Twerton days a City friend of mine used to claim that whenever they were doing significantly better than us our board would trot out the stadium plans just to try and reclaim the good news. I mentioned that the stadium was the only thing making a difference and the only thing I found to be envious of, which he completely agreed. A bit like whenever they allow rumours of a new signing just to placate the fans when there is little chance of becoming reality.
After their £8m signings mentioned at the start of the season which fell through and NH's bullishness before the Court Case it seems nothing changes.
That said, if things go right in the next 6 months then we could be Christening their newly completed ground in League 1 next season with ours part way through. Then again plenty of twists and turns to come on all fronts.

To be honest (and ignoring the re-branding and their support), I'm pretty envious... Not the point I was making probably badly. City could end up a hybrid of Cardiff and Coventry. Fans often have a pop at the library atmosphere and if the year goes South it could be 50$ full. Some City fans also have reservations about Bristol Sport, names of stands are being ditched, Bristol Sport are rebranding the ground as a multi purpose sporting and business facilty. City fans are already calling it sterile. So the use of nobody was wrong, many fans are not fans of soul less and singing "io io we are the corporate reds, io io we are the corporate reds .." Wont be so much fun after all. The fans were quite happy to take the cash when it meant (fairly easy) success on the pitch. Now the cash is paying for corporate boxes and corporate facilities (and let's be honest, the only reason you build a stand that big is because of what you can fit underneath it - the seats on top are basically an afterthought). I've supported Rovers for 25+ years and recently I've been a massive supporter of the Mem upgrade and then the UWE. Will I like it if we get it? Probably not. I like to stand and I like being close to the pitch. If our delays mean a sensible sized improvement with safe standing (and whilst I won't say it publicly) thank you TrasHorfield and Sainsburys?

Whether this has been started by a Ted or they are just posting there are several things that are fact. 1) They are doing a pretty good job of 'working with what they have'. Considering what people have said I was begrudgingly pretty impressed by the set up. Its big, the facilites are good and it looks alright (apart from the colour choice for the setaing) 2) There is no point comparing it to the Mem, im afraid there is no comparison stadium v stadium. 3) They have sold out the majority of games this season which is more than we've done (as I said in an earlier post on a diffrent thread we cant be bragging about our fans when we only get 6k and they sell out regardless of which division each club is in) 4) They do still fight amongst themselves 5) Gas-ed dont rely on photos. I was there yesterday. It'll hurt but its better than you think. 6) They will think its wierd us discussing their ground v ours and at the moment they'd be right. (But then again most of the stuff on this forum comes under wierd in my book!) 7) Teds I know, have told me that SL has bought up loads of land around the stadium (DIY store etc?) to help deal with parking issues. 8) When we build at UWE we had better make sure the missing 0000's turn up or we'll be having the same sort of stuff being thrown at us. Lets hope it happens before its too late.

Seriously? Am I the only person who can see that londonexile is a shithead? First he starts a thread "are budet" then he starts a thread about The Gate being a shithole! we'll get 20,000+ every week blah blah blah! With in minutes of those threads going up here, guess what is being discussed on otib? Wake up people!!!

Then can't we all just play the game and agree that their new stadium development looks a disjointed pile of shìte and will end up looking like a new B&Q warehouse?

It can be the best stadium in the World but it'll still be where it is.

Because South Gloucestershire Council want a 21000+ stadium to meet one of the criteria in their 'masterplan'. Hence very easy to get planning permission for 21700, much more hassle getting it for (say) 16700...

I have to drive past AG every day and I have to say I can't agree with the comments above. I think it will look pretty impressive when finished, the new Williams stand is massive and the South and Dolman stands seem to have been tied in and provide a smart wrap around of half the pitch. The park end stand which, when it was the old open terrace I danced on several times as The Gas beat the Sh!t is not very impressive, but overall I think it will be a fine stadium when finished. Don't get me wrong, I hate saying this, but I suppose a £50 million. Outlay but Saint Sir Steve is going to deliver. I only hope he is losing interest in The Sh!t and is developing it for the rugby club because he can buy the success and recognition he obviously craves for a lot less via the egg chasers. When I see the development of that ground it just emphasises what a shambles we are, with the endless will we/won't we with the UWE and the sh** hole we currently play in. Wholeheartedly agree with this, when theirs is finished it's going to look pretty good and you can't knock them for investing in their stadium. I've heard that SL is buying the houses behind the Ateyo one by one so that can be re-developed and complete the wrap around the pitch. Hopefully, one of them living in the street is a gashead and holds out for a good couple of million to set him up for life.
