Horrible game, horrible conditions which helped their game, far to much lump it first half, but what a sweet three points. I thought Taylor was the best footballer on the pitch, having to battle giants for balls in the air and got the all important winner with some lovely chest control and finish. First look at Gaffney today and was a bit disappointed myself, still can't really judge on one game.UTG

He creates so much space for Taylor and players around him. We've been looking for someone like him for ages and at last we have our man. He fits in perfectly into our team IMO. When people were saying target man, I didn't want the typical static bully prototype as such, our team is better than that general long ball rubbish I wanted someone who is an aerial present, creates space and is mobile. Gaffney has all those in abundance.

Gaffney has all those in abundance. Thought his link up play was poor, his first touch was poor and he was hardly ever anywhere near Taylor who made his own space. Not judging him on one game as to wether he is an asset, and he has had a lot of praise but just commenting on today where I don't think he was very effective

First time I've been able to see Gaffney and he certainly looks better than Blissett or Cunnington or that guy (Wall?) we had from Luton for a short while last season, and he's a similar build. I thought he faded a bit in the middle of the game, but maybe that's just the ebb and flow. I know he has played better from commentary, and I'm looking forward to seeing him on the 28th . Looks like a good signing to me.

Gaffney wasn't as good today as against Wycombe. Drags players out wide giving Taylor more space but sometimes I wish he stayed central. The wingers, particularly Cowan Hall, should be running the channels that Gaffney does.

Wow. Brilliant to win like that in front of a good crowd at home. Interested to know what the he'll was going on to be so lame first half. Good stuff GAS. Somebody won 500 notes? Creativity was the difference. York harried and parked the bus from the first minute with little interest in going forward in any real way. The 3 subs changed the game. Cowan Hall was ineffective and Leads pace and willingness to get into forward positions really helped up open them up a bit more. Easter did ok and his goal was classic poachers goal hanging. Can't argue with that. IMO Leads and Goz should probably have started.

But he must have talent and he's young, so better may come... and we won anyway.

At HT I wanted Leadbitter on for Cowan Hall and stick Bodin back out left. We won regardless so to quote our dear leader, "happy days!"

I think he went wide to try to make space in a packed midfield. He played a couple of beautiful passes into the box between keeper and defenders in the second half that were just crying out to be attacked.

The teds would have been spitting on him within 10 minutes.

Towards the end Gaffney was struggling and looked like he'd hurt his groin (cue various jokes). Several times he played good balls for Cowan Hall who immediately lost out to his full back. The number 3 got booked in the first half and I was waiting for us to really work him then the wingers changed sides and Cowan Hall found a different way to lose the ball by constantly cutting inside.
We started that annoying tippy tappy sideways and backwards passing for a while which also got us nowhere. I was surprised when Leadbitter lost out to J Clarke for a starting spot, and was glad he came on in the second half. DC got the subs spot on and we just about deserved the victory against a poor York side.

I don't think he had a bad game, just not as good as vs Wycombe. Once the subs were made every player became far more effective.

Clarke switched the wingers instead and he seemed to have a pretty easy game.

Interestingly, he didn't come on as a switch to 3-5-2, but just as a straight swap for JC, yet he still got forward as much as ever IMO.

Best part of the game for me was when just after a blatant (unpunished) shove in the back in their box on Parkes he got instant revenge by nearly shoving their number 3 over the West Stand!
He got away with it too!

He got away with it too! I was amazed he wasn't booked for that! It may have been shoulders but the ball had gone, I thought and it was certainly excessive force! Ref had a little word with him, that's all.

Was Taylor's booking right?
Looked like a dive from the South Stand.
