Anyone use IP cameras at home for outdoor security etc? If so, do you have any recommendations? I already have the software and storage capability, but I don't have the actual cameras.

Wife in a bad mood usually does the trick. Are they ever in any other sort of mood? It's actually for the Mother-in-Law. She's 75 and lives in a bungalow that is attached to the main house. Her front door is about ten metres from our back door. It looks as though someone has recently tried to force their way in to her place via the patio door. Just a slight bit of damage. Probably just low-lifers looking for an easy break-in. Before installing an expensive alarm system, I thought it might be easier to install some IP Cameras, with a few signs put up around the property. That won't stop the professional thief (does anything), but it will probably deter the opportunist kids. If they see the signs and cameras they'll move onto an easier opportunity elsewhere. The cameras can detect movement, and so trigger various alarms. It'll make the old dear happier to know that in the event of an alarm being triggered it'll probably bring a very watered off, and naked (if at night) me pounding out into the garden...............oh, hang on......I need a rethink. |
