It's funny because they're comparing our attendance last season at Wembley to themselves at Wembley. Completely forgetting that they took less to Wembley in the biggest game in their history (Hull) than we did for a League 2 playoff final. Really couldn't care what you say about us. But this is complete bullshit. We sold our full allocation for that playoff final, as did Hull. Much more seats are used as cooperate at higher levels. So, you do care, and it's true, but apart from that, you don't care and it's bullshit.

Their away support is embarrassing in every way and has been for as long as I can remember. Just goes to show how many "floaters" (pun intended) they get down at Trashton every other week. Hi guys, City fan here. Like to think I'm one of the 'reasonable, happy to have a good debate' ones. Lots of my mates are gasheads and it's great to be in a two club city where rivalry can be a good thing. Have to say though that our away support is not bad at all. We averaged 1,400 at away games last season which was more than 13 championship clubs. I know it was an incredibly successful season for us, the like of which many of us had never known. But we still had to go to some awful places but we were there. We have consistently had the highest average home and away attendances of the Bristol clubs, for many years. Not sure that is any sort of claim to fame though! As a city with a massive population relative to many other teams' towns/cities it could be argued that both our away followings are 'embarrassing' ... Anyway, just wanted to say hello and I look forward to some cool debates...

First couple of nibbles from the OTIB refugees..
Got to say that's what I like about this forum compared to the old official one, no sheeds at all. Makes for a better experience. There's literally not one view from a City fan I care about. Dont know about anyone else. That's not me being an arse.
No matter how much they say they 'come in peace', it never ends well. How can it?
Just hope this forum doesn't go that way

Can somebody have a look at the history books, but I'm pretty certain when the shoite were in the old Div 4 they got crowds of less than 2,000.

I agree that you would expect a City the size of Bristol to be able to support at least 1 club capable of higher championship or premiership football and quite frankly if I was a City fan I would be hacked off at the moment that you look as if you have missed the boat. About 18 months ago Rovers were at the lowest point in their history, playing Conference football in front of gates of less than a thousand people, problems with their ground and money tight.effectively we were on our knees. We got out of that league but it was not until the last kick of the season that we did so. City on the other hand were winning their League easily -had a revamped stadium - and Mr Moneybags throwing his cash at them to try and buy them a better team. They had a great opportunity to claim Bristols floating fans who drift all over the Uk to watch their top class footie. Now look at the situation . Rovers are well on the road to recovery with a feel good factor. The ground issue will be resolved either way and even if the result goes against us we will at least know where we stand so that we can move forward. We are gradually climbing to our feet albeit there is still a way to go. Quite frankly I was worried when we went out of the league that we would be eclipsed and may never recover and so to be where we are today is brilliant i don't go to Ashton so can only go on what I hear but they are far from emulating Swansea, Southampton and Leicester and I would want to know why. How come Middlesborough -have you ever been there??- can attract the calibre of players that Bristol can't. For the moment City still have the upper hand but maybe Rovers hitting that all time low was a catalyst for change

Christ. We can dream. I don't like saying this, but even if city suffered back to back relegations and we got promoted twice... other than league position, they'd still be more professional, have bigger crowds, better facilities than us. It would take about 10 years of improvement for us to get near them, especially off of the field. We would need sustained Champ football in a modern setting to turn the screw imo.

So Colin of mansfield I for one thank you.

We averaged 4,800 in div 4 in 1983 and 7,300 in div 4 in 1984 - then we got promoted. It was my fave period of being a City fan. At least we knew that the fans who attended were 100% committed and made a lot of noise. There were no floating supporters around then, it was the same guys n gals - week in week out, happy days!

Find it a bit hillarious when I read 'But we still had to go to some awful places but we were there' after the season we have just had. 1400 is alright. Yeah. But with the success you were having on the pitch it's pretty sh**e to be honest. If Rovers were at the top of League One we'd be taking significantly more than that.

All they've spoke about(had to speak about) recently is about how they're taking 4/5K to WBA, and they say we bang on about our away support!
It is only £10 a ticket though, and for the purpose of them banging on about how we mention our away following, lets not forget we took 7K to Fulham a few years back.

Only one way to sort it out (and I can't be bothered to do it) is to use the average away following as a percentage against the average home attendance.
