Find it a bit hillarious when I read 'But we still had to go to some awful places but we were there' after the season we have just had. 1400 is alright. Yeah. But with the success you were having on the pitch it's pretty sh**e to be honest. If Rovers were at the top of League One we'd be taking significantly more than that. Only one way to sort it out (and I can't be bothered to do it) is to use the average away following as a percentage against the average home attendance. Against the money spent on their squad and money spent by Pantsboy.

So, you do care, and it's true, but apart from that, you don't care and it's bullshit. strange lot they 82ers, they don't actually know what they are saying. I know exactly what I'm saying. Haven't got an honour in Journalism or anything.

Hi guys, City fan here. Like to think I'm one of the 'reasonable, happy to have a good debate' ones. Lots of my mates are gasheads and it's great to be in a two club city where rivalry can be a good thing. Have to say though that our away support is not bad at all. We averaged 1,400 at away games last season which was more than 13 championship clubs. I know it was an incredibly successful season for us, the like of which many of us had never known. But we still had to go to some awful places but we were there. We have consistently had the highest average home and away attendances of the Bristol clubs, for many years. Not sure that is any sort of claim to fame though! As a city with a massive population relative to many other teams' towns/cities it could be argued that both our away followings are 'embarrassing' ... Anyway, just wanted to say hello and I look forward to some cool debates... I agree that you would expect a City the size of Bristol to be able to support at least 1 club capable of higher championship or premiership football and quite frankly if I was a City fan I would be hacked off at the moment that you look as if you have missed the boat. About 18 months ago Rovers were at the lowest point in their history, playing Conference football in front of gates of less than a thousand people, problems with their ground and money tight.effectively we were on our knees. We got out of that league but it was not until the last kick of the season that we did so. City on the other hand were winning their League easily -had a revamped stadium - and Mr Moneybags throwing his cash at them to try and buy them a better team. They had a great opportunity to claim Bristols floating fans who drift all over the Uk to watch their top class footie. Now look at the situation . Rovers are well on the road to recovery with a feel good factor. The ground issue will be resolved either way and even if the result goes against us we will at least know where we stand so that we can move forward. We are gradually climbing to our feet albeit there is still a way to go. Quite frankly I was worried when we went out of the league that we would be eclipsed and may never recover and so to be where we are today is brilliant i don't go to Ashton so can only go on what I hear but they are far from emulating Swansea, Southampton and Leicester and I would want to know why. How come Middlesborough -have you ever been there??- can attract the calibre of players that Bristol can't. For the moment City still have the upper hand but maybe Rovers hitting that all time low was a catalyst for change

www.european-football-statistics.co.uk/attn.htmAs you can see in the link above it was different times so you can't compare attendances in 82/83 season city were in division 4 and averaged 4799 we were in division 3 and averaged 6221 the season before when we were both in the same league city averaged 6511 we got 5402 and have averaged more than us ever since even when we are in the same league

For the moment City still have the upper hand but maybe Rovers hitting that all time low was a catalyst for change A good post and some really good points. Yep most City fans I know are frustrated and confused as to why we seemingly fail to attract some players when Mr Lansdown has stated publicly recently that the fees and wages haven't been a problem. I'm sure you'll agree that Bristol is a cool place to live and the surrounding areas are pretty great too so we don't get it. It must be down to the footballing potential that other clubs can offer. Footballers are obviously short term thinkers and they won't think 'wow City had four seasons at the top level back in the seventies I must go there' - but then why have teams like Brentford and Bournemouth done so well?! And you're right, we do look at other teams like Burnley, Swansea, Leicester, Watford, Southampton etc and think how have they done it too?! Oh well, at least we live in Bristol, the only crumb of comfort I can grab at the moment. And we may have a Bristol Derby next season!

If that's you the old brislington red welcome back, on the subject of players not wanting to come ,it might be a memory thing ,remember a few years back was on a course ,and football came up mentioned i was gas n proud ,one guy said glad you don't support that other lot, then he said why, his words were along the lines of vile lady gardens , flob on their own players and managers , that was the only thing he knew of your lot , wonder how many players feel the same etc

I remember jimmy Greaves saying on Saint and Greavsie years ago that City were the most fickle fans in the country. As far as I know he's got no connection to City or Rovers.

They seemed so jubilant yesterday on the highlights when their 2nd went in. That injury time win equaliser must have really hurt. League 1, by teds admission is a league they felt embarrassed to be in. Good to see all is well in the championship, their rightful home and they are playing league 1 minnows off the park in the f a cup.

Ah feck I couldn't see them in champ table so thought they were l1! This is the result of me giving up with watching football other than rovers. I could afford sky or virgin but I don't buy it - it's riddiulous expecting £60 a month when all I want are the football games but I have to buy a huge package of perma repeats of top gear, Simpsons, friends etc. I have almost given up with TV entirely to be honest - I find the BBC to be awful these days, and ITV is just braindead moronic shows with lots of glitter, lights, pretty people and ant and Dec. Every time I see TV these days it reminds me how incredibly dumbed down everything is these days. Watch an episode of Bullseye from the 80s and early 90s and the questions are so much harder than today.....people have got dumber, of that there is no doubt. I'm not even very old but it's plain to see. Anyway, long story short I no longer follow football other than Rovers. I'll show myself out

Greg Cunningham winner. is this same Cunningham with PL & Champ experience who City got rid of just before the season started?
LOL
I love forward thinking managers.
I guess the excuse will be something about him being under pressure from his Billionaire owner to cut costs.
