The club are encouraging supporters to purchase tickets to avoid queues and delay before kick-off. The advice is to buy early bird and save £2, then avoid the chaos at the turnstiles.
Shouldn't the club be trying to encourage people to spend that extra £2 rather than save it? How about enticing customers to the ground early with a food/drink offer? Why not control the turnstiles, rather than having empty ticket gates and lengthy queues at the cash ones? Why is it a problem for a ground with an 11k capacity to struggle if more than 7 or 8k turn up?

1. Financially maybe but if they did the opposite they'd be slagged off for trying to rip us off. Can't win! 2. Agree. 3. All the Blackthorn gates were manned which seemed to be where the biggest problem was. 4. It isn't if they turn up with an even flow of supporters but as with any ground if hundreds turn up at the same time (which happens more with bigger gates), then there is only a finite number you can get through in a certain amount of time.

I was running late myself on Monday, but walked straight in with a season ticket. I was surprised to see how long the queues were outside at 2.50. I am guessing a few missed kick off.

I think fans have to take some responsibility here, if you are going to turn up just before kick off in large numbers then don't moan if you have to queue, the vast majority turn up in good time and get in without a problem

For Luton and Plymouth I reckon both will be close to capacity so would buy tickets in advance

We're not part of some sort of hive mind.

The club have your money and if you don't turn up for any reason £16 for them is better then £0 and you may end up spending more whilst your there. 2. All the blackthorn end turnstiles were manned and all but 1 takes tickets but for pay on the gate each are specific. 2x adult, 2x child, 1x 16-21 and 1 over 65. The queues were for the pay on the gate adult but I'd bought tickets from the ticket office before getting a drink and missed all the queues going down a ticket only queue. The main problem was everyone turned up in the 10 mins before kick off. The club did the best they can with the facilities available but it's not like we get gates of 9500 every week to have the systems in place

Turning up 10 minutes before kick off is fine. It is up to the club to change either 1. The way they mange that or 2. Entice supporters into the ground earlier, which has subsequent benefits... Simply suggesting that people turn up early only covers the club's back when people complain. It's hardly a solution though. A free pint voucher collectable only between 1400-1430 for after the match might pull a few in? Or free kids soft drinks post match? Bear in mind, by getting punters in at 1400, they might buy an extra coffee/programme/etc that they wouldn't normally.

Bear in mind, by getting punters in at 1400, they might buy an extra coffee/programme/etc that they wouldn't normally. That's exactly what they have done. The way they have chosen to manage it is by explaining to fans that to get it on time they can get early bird tickets or turn up earlier! If it works it could be the perfect solution...sometimes the easy answer is the best! Agree they could take advantage of our current form and bigger crowds by doing some sort of offer. The problem with that is the Mem itself. Although the terrace capacity allows more people, the bars, toilets and food outlets struggle if more than about 6,500 turn up. Sadly not much can be done about that! Lets up the UWE stadium happens at some point so we can really take advantage of getting decent crowds!

Me and my two sons were there 2.20, myself and one son are West Enclosure season ticket holders. Ticket sold out signs were up for the West Enclosure and Stands. I had to buy a ticket for the Blackthorn for the son without one to make sure he got in somewhere. The West enclosure turnstiles had a trickle going through them, all were open. By 2.50 the Blackthorn looked full, there was space in the West enclosure and it was still comfortable not full by Kickoff. You could still see queues for the Blackthorn at gone 3. I haven't seen terraces so packed for years.

Blackthorn looked like too many were let in! Standing in my usual place was mad, never seen it so full! I'll definitely turn up abit earlier on Saturday. I'm normally a 2:50 sort of guy!

if people get there at late and pay cash then they're probably not to bothered about missing the first 2 minutes otherwise they would have got there earlier or bought a ticket....
surely everyone knows the situation by now....

Looking from my seat in the Dribuild stand i have a good view of most areas of the ground & I must say that I have seen the west enclosure much more populated than it was Monday, all I can think is that a lot of season ticket holders didn't turn up. I think the trouble with the blackthorn end is that the majority of fans entering either stand in the middle or the side nearest the turnstiles where it did looked rammed whilst the far side looked there was still standing room available. It might be adviseable on large crowds if the stewards encouraged late comers to make there way to the far side nearest the family enclosure ensuring a more even spread of fans.

Or if like me I went to the mem today and paid £16 for my ticket saving £2. I then paid £45 on a top whilst I was there and I am sure loads of people have done the same.

Unfortunately stadium management has always been tin pot. Nothing will change unless new faces are brought in at the top end behind the scenes.

Tin pot ground yes, but basic crowd control should be better considering the club employ a stadium manager and management staff in safety control.
