I have watched Rovers since 1964. Nigel was a great keeper, but Martin was even better. Of course this is only one mans opinion. When have we ever taken notice of that? Happy New Year to you.

We do need a replacement for Mildy whatever happens. Although he has performed well since returning to the first team in my opinion he is much too slow and a younger ( with experience ) keeper is required.
With regards to Tbones comments regarding Martin Thomas I tend to agree with Nigel Martyn a very close second.

Nigel Martyn best keeper for Rovers in the 50 years I have watched them. Dick Sheppard second for me with Jim Eadie third.

As far as Martin Thomas v Nigel Martin, the latter played nearly 600 top flight games compared to the former's near 300, and played 23 times for England compared to 1 Wales cap, after they left Rovers they's a clear winner in what they achieved in the game.

1. Spent ages trying to figure that out, too. I think it's because so much has happened and he's into his fourth season with us. Joined under Ward when we stayed up, went down, came back up and now riding high in League 2. 2. Oxymoron yes. Wasn't sure when the Post was going to put the piece up. If it had been tomorrow it would have been "exactly", but as it is today I wasn't quite sure how to phrase it. More pednats* corner, but I don't agree. Almost exactly is perfectly fine in certain contexts, eg 3.1245345 is almost exactly 3.1245346 The almost exactly a year, like in this usage is perfectly fine, istm, coz the potential exactitude is remarkable and worthwhile to point out, even if it's not strictly correct. Usages like you have two oranges and I have three, so we have almost exactly the same, istm would be wrong. Coz the quality of exactitude is pretty pointless in the first place. *Yes, pednats. A great argument but "coz" is not befitting of the tenor of the post

Am I the only one who thinks mildly is always darting about his box, like a modern keeper?
If he wasn't 36, I think we would be happy enough.
He looks fit as a flea, he could have at least 5 years left.
Will Puddy in my opinion lost us the league title (debatable) and should have been sent off at Wembley - that was the most nailed on red I've ever seen and it probably would have lost us the game if the ref didn't bottle it.
I'm sure he's a nice guy and he has looked otherwise solid, but those 2 errors could have cost us everything. Yes it's over a season but those 2 games were absolutely crucial.

Personally I'd be happy to keep Mildenhall in the side the rest of the season unless his former dramatically dips again. His quick throw outs were good the other day.
Assuming/hoping Puddy isn't out for ages I feel we should just stick with what we've got. Wouldn't surprise me at all if DC got another loan keeper in though.
It's pretty obvious Mildenhall won't get another contract with us so just address the keeper situation properly in the summer IMO
