I like Gaffney and would like to see him sign, but is anyone else wondering what effect sitting on the bench is having on Harrison? Will be interesting to see if he comes out fighting when he gets his chance. Is he on the final year of his contract? he could go out on loan to his other team in Bristol, they need another overpaid waste of space

He isn't the answer for Ellis or Jamie. But as mentioned, he is an improvement on bliss so.... I'm a big fan of Ellis and Jamie's but I think it's going to be difficult for them with Easter, Taylor and hopefully Gaffney ahead of them. In Ellis' break through season he looked a decent winger at this level. He is a better player now so I wonder if he would give this position a go again? I know he is happier in a central position but if it's a choice between the wing or bench then might be worth a punt. As for Lucas I think he is a good player but I think his chances of playing look slim. Hope we don't have a Zamora type situation when he had 4 decent strikers ahead of him as I would like it if he could make it with us. Would hate for him to leave for peanuts then go on to play at the highest level. Bit gutted Bliss didn't work out as it was difficult not to warm to to the guy.

No need to worry about this, if he joins us and fails it will be a NH signing if he works out it will be a DC signing. Simples ! Surely Harrison got his chance at Wimbledon and even though their first choice CB only lasted 5 minutes he managed to do nothing of any note? But Gaffney responded to his dropping /resting by scoring two cracking goals on his return to the side. As far as Gaffney being the best choice, how do we know what other strikers are available? Let's not get carried away as we usually do about loan players, just in case he hits a bad spell as soon as he signs.

My gut feel with Gaffney is that could prove a gem.
Both Taylor and Easter have looked better next to him. I'd quite like to see Elis get some minuets with him.
Even if I'm wrong, gaffneys workrate prevents him from being 'disaster'. If he fits the other bits- Contract length and wages, then yes.

only time will tell. He has started well which is all that we could ask for. Some new players get " found out" and defenders learn how to play them which reduces their effectiveness but it seems to me that he doesnt rely on one aspect of his play but is something of an all rounder which should serve him well.

".... I'd quite like to see Elis get some minuets with him (Gaffney)...." They would lead the opposition a merry dance, I'm sure.

Plus if Cambridge hold us to ransom other options might become more appealing!

RG's been v. impressive over the last 2 games, assuming he doesn't get too big for his boots I can't imagine he'd suddenly lose form/interest once he'd signed, hopefully, for us. I think he senses this is his big chance to make a career in league football similar to Sincs & Leads? DC's finding the gems we always hoped our manager's would unearth?

Its all about whether the player works with our other players and he does, he's also only just come to the football league and has potential. No reason not to sign him unless Cambridge get really silly.

Playing devils advocate before people get too carried away, but are people confident Gaffney is the answer? He's had a couple of good games and against Orient worked his nuts off, but I can't help but feel every time we get excited by a loan signing extending or becoming permanent that they end up disappointing! Could we have seen the best of Gaffney and it go downhill from here? Is there a better option available? Could be right. But he's already here and seems to want to stay. Would be a bit daft to send him back and sign a complete unknown. But can we afford the fee

It's madness we can't afford £25K/£50K on a decent young striker who could well help to get us promoted but can spend £100K's on solicitors costs! Personally I'd forget signing another first choice goalie and use his wages on Gaffney's transfer fee.
