I can't remember any players having quite the impact that Gaffney has made. Lines last season maybe? Any memories from the faithful of successful loan signings of the past? UTG!!

Dawson and LDV blew hot and cold last season from recent memory.
To be fair to Cunningham he wasn't a world beater but he scored a few important goals for us while on loan last season.

We've had a few over the years; most went downhill after though. JJOT was a loan signing originally. We then had Dickson (or similar) who scored a hat trick on his loan debut before going quickly off of the boil. A couple of decent loanee goalkeepers too. But I do agree. Gaff eye has been a revelation since joining us due to the extra dimension he offers - and of course the goals.

Talking of loan keepers my favourite memory has to be Nick Culkin running out with a crash helmet on! I think he got booked for that before kick off!

Curo's impact was certainly immediate, as was Bailey's. I think the Geordie gashead also deserves a mention as his goal scoring took the pressure off sir Rickie in his first season here. One season long loan that enabled us to fill the huge hole in the squad left by Mickey Barrett's untimely death was that of Mark O'Connor from QPR, footballer's footballer he was - good team man.

JC's wonder strike at the Mem when I think he was still on loan reminds me of Gaffers two goals on Boxing Day, Dennis Bailey sticks in the mind as our best ever loan signing, but Tom Eaves as another good loanee, it's odd how we remember strikers and not defenders?

Liked the American will Packwood from Birmingham.Had time on the ball. This post reminded me of how helpful he was at the start of a dire season. According to Wiki suffered subsequent injuries (groin/hamstring) and is back in the US looking for a contract. Only 22 - sad, especially when you think how grateful we were at the time.
