I guess GGMI was saying that tongue in cheek but you could imagine Preston or any National League goalie could have coped yesterday, even McChystal could have kept a clean sheet again!

A back line wants to be comfortable with who is behind them so they can just concentrate on what's in front of them.

Wasn't sure after the Orient game and I thought he has an OK game there and got a lot of praise which was perhaps a bit OTT as he still looked shaky to me. Yesterday however, I thought he was fantastic. I don't need Mildy to make save after save to prove himself to me, I know that that is one element of his game he is very good at and for a big man, will always make crucial saves especially 1 on 1's etc. So for me, it's all the other areas to his game. And his handling in wet conditions, organisation of the back 4 and very good distribution yesterday all stood out. Didn't put a foot wrong and has gone a long way to winning me round despite having not very much to do. Keep it up Mildy! But wasn't he dropped last season after his horror shows against Eastleigh & Halifax(?) then again for more gaols he conceded in game earlier this season not for any other obvious reasons? Until he plays against some better opposition I can't see how we can judge me, although the signs are at present that he's got his old confidence back, if he has those that free up more of the playing budget for outfield players this January? Hmm maybe, I can't remember the exact howlers he made to be fair (my memory is shocking!) but were they shots he should've saved howlers or were they poor handling/positioning/concentration howlers? I honestly can't remember... but there is a big difference. Nicholls for example got blasted for letting in so many from long range - i'd question his shot stopping ability more so than Mildy's. For me (and again, I emphasise this is what I feel I need to see from him to have confidence), his distribution and handling were appalling before he got dropped. While not tested yesterday, the signs are they have significantly improved. Especially distribution, it is obvious he has been working on the quick throw out to the wing backs. His kicking is wildly inaccurate and often he won't hit his target and it just means the ball comes straight back. EDIT: Just found the two errors you refer to from last season 50 secs in 2.10 in Neither are really shot stopping errors if you know what I mean. First one was a low hard cross which he fumbles and lets into the net. Second one he comes for the ball when he shouldn't and it's poor decision making. So for me the shot stopping isn't the issue, it's the other areas of his game. P.s how terrible is that Halifax pitch?! thank christ we're not down there anymore!

Yesterday I thought that he looked as if his confidence has returned. He didn't have much to do but he Is no longer routed to his line in the way that he was when things were not good. His indecisiveness had led to the defence losing confidence in him but that is no longer the case. His distribution was good yesterday as he has stopped the long ball everytime and some of his quick throw outs set us on the attack Clean sheets in his last 3 games suggests that maybe he is the solution to our goalkeeping problem Didn't Leyton Orient score? Yes they did - sorry it slipped my mind. A good goalkeeper may have a quiet game because his proactive handling of situations breaks down the attack such as coming out for the ball. I agree reed that his confidence looked short against the Dons but it grew as the game went on and yesterday he was looking for the ball

Maybe you should check the dartford game where he punched the ball into his own net as well, that was definitely worse then the Halifax game

The best saves are the ones a goalkeeper doesn't have to make .
