My guess is he's a secret gashead? Could well be true. He was born in South Glos. He is/was affiliated to the Wiltshire Football Association. So has always been relatively local. It seems he lost his place on the panel of Premier League referees due to an injury that caused him to fail the required fitness test.

I understand he goes to matches undercover to listen out for any South African accents.

Better correct the typo in the heading of this post before the solicitor's letters arrive!

I must admit it was a disappointment when I read this thread.

Lee trains with Rovers, although he's coming back from injury at the moment. He is very good mates with Mark McChrystal, sometimes see them together at my golf club, where Lee is a member.
Love the title of this thread - expecting the EP to run an expose story by tomorrow!

He hasnt got an official affiliation as he has officiated us in the past but he hates poo I am not sure if you understood the meaning of affiliation as used in my post? All referees must be affiliated to a football association. www.thefa.com/my-football/referee/frequently-asked-questions

Me too! Howard Webb is a Roterham fan for example. What is stopping him being allowed to ref one of their games otherwise?

If I was a ref, I'd pretend to be a mad Hartlepool fan who hated Darlington, so I could ref Rovers and City games.
Probably why I'm not a ref.
