Real shame.
Riordan should have made so much more of his talent.
I was really excited by his signing. Shows what I know.

Was played him out of position in a team of utter dross, got no service and funnily enough didn't score. Made a couple of great late runs into the box one home game only for the ball to be ballooned out of play by one of other awful players. Have no doubt if someone passed the ball to him in those positions he would have scored. Sadly he'll be remembered for the free kick that cleared the blackthorn end but such a distance it probably landed in Westbury on Trym!

You sense he had and still has serious issues off the pitch and MM only signed him as a favour for his then, looming, court case.

He's struggled to get a team as wanted to stay in Scotland but as you alluded to his off the field antics were well known. Such a shame such a talent wasted.

As a Scottish friend of mine said to me a few years back: Ha ha, I see you've signed old 'Nightclub Riordan', then?

I liked Riordan. I think I was the only one, but felt he was a scapegoat for being the "star" of a team of utter sh!te!

Had a long chat with McGhee at The Mem after a Q & A and he insisted that Riordan would ONLY play if he was picked to play in the inside forward position.
I told McGhee that I was amazed that he allowed the player to dictate where he would play.

I heard an interview with Riordan where the gaffer asked him if he'd prefer to play left or right. Deeks thought he was asking upfront but then found out it was on the wing. Had other problems and coming down from Scotland all the time whilst he was here. As they say form is temporary class is permanent. Seeing the highlights video on YouTube at the time hoped we'd signed that player but never worked out.

He seemed to play as a left sided midfielder though so had little effect on the game. Mad that MM would allow a player that sort of control...a sign of desperation! I still believe that with a more forward position and service and he could have been decent.

The guy clearly has (had) ability but he appears to carry a lot of baggage. I thought he was going to be great for us, but it didn't work out. Perhaps he would have been more effective in our side now, given it's a far better one than that under Mcghee.

The only good thing to come out of that is it might give Yeovil Town a lifeline!

Given he was so poor for us years ago, and has seemingly done little since in the game, why would another English pro club even give him a trial? Odd is an under statement!
