Imagine if Messi had scored this, we would never hear the end of it!!! You say it as though it hasn't been talked about. Good footballer. Only 19, let him get on with his game instead of bigging him up too much like previous players.

Why shouldn't we big him up? He's an exceptional young English player who seems to get better & better.

GGMI that's a pretty negative response to a very positive opening post. Aren't goals like this the very reason why we love the game so much. Reminded me of Pele one of the worlds best ever footballers.

Because we do it everytime, the media builds them up more and more and puts too much pressure on them. And then can't wait to bring them down when they go through a bad patch. It is embarrassing that because so many have failed previously that we have to heap so much pressure onto young shoulders everytime.

Wayne Rooney? Joe Cole? Michael Owen? Golden generation in general? All have a lot of pressure put them at a young age and when we realise they are not the world class players they are made out to be we end up disappointed.

You honestly saying Rooney (a two time European cup winner, countless league titles and cups) is a failure? Owen who has played for Real Madrid, Man Utd, Liverpool too?

Has been winning titles and cups from that age ever since, and you say that's failure. Wow

I'm saying we put too much pressure on our youngsters at a young age because we fail to produce top players on a consistent basis. One or two good games in a word cup does not make you world class anyway. He went downhill quickly.

Rooney has declined as he's got older definitely. He was a much better player when he was less mature. The more he's matured the more predictable he has become and lost the spark he used to have.
