Charlton Athletic striker Joe Pigott is set to be on the move before the transfer window closes on Monday - with a number of League Two clubs interested in him. Luton Town, who are now managed by his former U21 boss Nathan Jones, are keen on a loan deal. And also understood to be in the mix are Oxford United, Bristol Rovers and Stevenage. Pigott, 22. spent the first half of the season on loan at Southend United, who he helped win promotion to League One during a temporary stay their in the 2014-15 campaign. He scored five goals in 27 appearances. Pigott is out of contract in the summer.

Sounds like he's off to Luton and somebody is just trying to increase the offer?

I do wonder just how informed our club is on players availability as the ideal player for us would have been James Collins from Shrewsbury when we signed Liam Lawrence. Great signing for Northampton as he can both lead the attack or play as the main striker. Can't see there being as good a player available now who possibly would have been in our range.

If we had signed Collins then we wouldn't have signed Gaffney. Join a team and play regular football or join a lower team and sit on the bench? I know which I'd choose.

Don't also overlook Collins was probably on a decent Div 1 contract at Shrewbury, Gaffney probably on an average one at Div 2 Cambridge. Clearly writing off a £10m debt to you local council helps in that regard!

City 1982 go into admin and shaft / threaten players, Southampton go into admin and then miraculously become an amazing team and rich as hell, Pompey go into admin several times... welcome to football. Cobblers must have a masssive budget this season. And simultaneously can't run a p up in brewery. go figure.
