So my lovlies, thanks to mr grayraydon I have come to the conclusion that naming the correct captain is paramount to success from the off. Who would you choose and why? lets try and keep the beard talk to a minimum eh.

Mansell, because he will play and I am sure he is the one many will look to

Not bad. Maybe monkhouse for me. Bit of experience and more involved than mildy.

Mildenhall is a captain with or without the armband. I can see why Ward made Parkes captain, in order to help him mature but i'm not sure it worked particularly well. It is right to give it to the most senior player who demonstrates leadership quality, e.g. Mccrystal but as I don't know what the lads are like in the changing room and training ground it is hard to say.

Torn between Mansell, Monkhouse or Sinclair but if I have to choose on spot I would say Mansell with Sinclair/Monkhouse as vice Captains

I always believed a Captain should be a Midfielder who is central to everything...
Thats just my opinion!

I've always been of the opinion that centre halves make the best captains as they can see pretty much everything going on all over the pitch and good ones are used to organising the defence around them most of the time anyway a la Vidic, Adams, and the like.
I don't think age or experience really comes into it that much either, if you're that way inclined (leadership/organiser type) then I don't think it matters how old you are, in my younger days I used to play CB and was always captain of any team I played in from the age of about 22/23 with many much older blokes around me, albeit at a low level, but I think the same applies at all levels, therefore I would make McChrystal my captain probably.

Although saying all of that, I would do anything for my captain if he had sinclairs beard, ANYTHING!

Ellis Harrison for his proffessionalism, work rate and off field role model lifestyle.

Another vote here for Mansell. He seems to be a leader and organiser who plays in the middle of the park and also seems a really likeable character off the pitch and someone that people will warm and look up to.

Plus he's got the experience of being in a team who've gotten out of this league before. Hopefully he can drag us through some tough games.

Difficult decision, so I'll fudge it.
The 4 M's: McCrystal, Mansell, Mildenhall, Monkhouse all have valuable experience which is useful for the team anyway - I'd probably go for McCrystal or Mansell out of these, but I have a feeling that if we sign Turley, it may be at the expense of McCrystal in the side.
