For me, and this is only my opinion, but we have lost our good away record in the last two games because DC has included his mate Lawrence in the team. To me he is too slow that's it. In this division you have to be quick at getting to the ball, quick at getting it under control and you must be able (at the very least) keep up with your team mates and the opposition. I believe we would have done better with Lines, or Ollie Clark. After all we rarely lost away from home, but since Lawrence's appearance we have lost 3 on the trot.
what does DC see that I don't?

Less of the "His mate" stuff....
I don't think for a second our manager plays favorites. He just is not that type of manager.

There are similar themes on the Player ratings and Mildenhall thread. Perhaps he just needs a few games to get up to speed and be the creative midfielder we all know we need. If he doesn't quickly get it right though, DC must not risk the team spirit by accommodating him at all costs.

DC recently bemoaned the fact that there aren't any 'old-fashioned' CFs around these days....he says that's why he signed Fallon. Yet Fallon has hardly featured, Easter is always in the squad; yet Jamie Lucas, who fits the description, doesn't get a look-in!

Or because we've played two teams who look a good shout for hitting the playoffs this season.
But you do you.

Don't get this "his mate" b0llocks.
If he really was only interested in playing "his mates", Monkhouse would still be here.
By getting rid of Monkhouse, DC proved he's not going to be sentimental about playing recruitment or selection. Hence, there's no need for the snidey remarks.

Yeah his mate bollocks holds no argument. I do agree however that Lawrence's arrival seems detrimental to the team.

Yeah his mate bollocks holds no argument. I do agree however that Lawrence's arrival seems detrimental to the team if anything. It has certainly coincided with our drop in form BUT, in fairness to Lawrence, there's nothing (as far as I am aware of) to suggest that his arrival has p*ssed players off etc. Whether or not he's actually any good is another argument of course. I think we all need to remember though that we've just come off the back of playing two very difficult teams. Next game we might be back to our best, so it's important that none of us overreact.

Maybe Lawrence arrival has just been when we have lost some form,we have already won more away games than we usually win in a season. Many positives so far this season,a good performance and win against Moorecambe and we're back on track. I expect Pompey fans were pointing the finger at some players and manager before Saturday

It was just so frustrating to see us get overrun in midfield and our midfield general Lee Mansell pushed out wide to accommodate Lawrence. I really don't get why Lawrence was brought in or what he offers. I thought he would play on the left hand side or part of a midfield 3. He's the sort of signing we would have made in the past. I hope he ends up proving me wrong. I would definitely drop him Saturday though. He just seems to have unsettled things for now.

I think me and you are two of DCs biggest fans, but he got it all wrong on Saturday - simple as that.

Morecambe Sat so a great opportunity to get an overdue win on the board. We were awesome at their place with Mattee and Ellis briliant. They had a player sent off last match so assume he will be banned this week.Don't think the away support will reach three figures as we get more away than they do at home!!! Not sure how they manage on such miniscule crowds but they have a neat stadium with cover and good facilities for visiting fans. Also, the Guy that made them tick,Jack Redshaw, has left. Reckon we can we get back on track and complete a double.Hope we will all be smiling again at 5 pm Sat.
