I for one will be a little sad to see the bloke go. I saw a man, on the whole, trying to do what was best for Rovers.
Got to thank him for stepping aside. I know everything in this deal will have come down to £££££££.
Exciting but apprehensive times ahead..
edit: braced for more negative than positive replies

What are we thanking him for? Still no signs of the UWE ever being built or investment in the squad that was a shocking press conference if they do intend investing big money at Rovers

If his tenure wasn't the greatest, his exit strategy was impeccable. Istm he has done his very best to put us in the very best hands going forward.

Thanks Nick.
He is a Gashead, he gave (his) money to managers and backed them, what more could a team really ask for? Unfortuantely Buckle and McGhee and lots of the players weren't up to it and cost us big time. He could have jumped ship but carried on despite the verbals.
I remember seeing him wearing the the next seasons brand new Cowlin shirt before the Northampton play off game before anyone knew who he was and he told a few of us of his dreams for the club as he was about to join the board.
It would be good to see him in the Clubhouse bars in a Rovers shirt and jeans after a game. Despite bad luck and bad choices........he is one of our own adn I honestly belive he wanted the best for the club and the fans.

I hope anyway

What are we thanking him for...? Being down in Dorset I have never been in the know so all my info comes from talking to people on match days and other stuff. Have never joined in the consortium threads because I have nothing that could inform anyone but with NH going I think I would like to thank him for ... Doing a good job in last 18 months to support team and DC in getting us back in the league. Where do people think that money for loans, players came from? There has been no magic wand with money, the guy invested heavily in making sure we are back in league. With the c*** flying about in Summer 14 he could just have walked away (yes I know he would have lost a lot of his investment if he had but the bottom line was he didn't). He has supported DC well this season and helped get players who have pushed us up into top half of table. Yes he was in charge when we went out of league but everyone seems to agree that Ward had money to get players in and loans he just didn't. Not sure that was Higgs fault. ... Keeping his nerve over the past year and working to get the deal he did. He said the UWE would be built and perhaps he will be proved correct. After all there is info out there about how Sainsbury's have shafted everyone else so NH wasn't alone in thinking he was let down. I guess everyone thought they had a watertight contract and many coucils with more resources than Rovers were all shafted. With all the rumours that have been flying about he has maintained a low profile and just, on this occasion, kept to the objective of selling Rovers to the best bidder. (This is my reading if the situation, don't know if we will ever know all the ins and outs of it). ... Guess others will point at missed opportunities over how Rovers have been run and missed chance in merchandising, branding, income streams, means of communication, scouting and club infrastructure and they may be right but although rich he wasn't mega rich and that was probably a glass ceiling on what we could and couldn't do. I certainly wouldn't disagree with them over these issues because we were all able to see the faults but onwards and upwards! Anyway others will have their own opinions and I respect those but these are just my personal thoughts and I think we do need to acknowledge and even thank him for what he has done. (Now I wait for the vast majority to disagree but hey ho!....) UTG!!

I'm sorry but if these owners do prove the real deal, Higgs has pulled off a masterstroke. The UWE made us stand out compared to all other clubs at our level simple as. Without it they'd have no interest.

Like anyone in his position he has made a few poor judgement calls but credit due he has not walked away from the club but put in the position to expect the club will move on I hope everyone will give him the respect he deserves

He is a gashead and it wateres me off when our supporters have got nothing else better to do than try to take the water out of someone who tried their best for our club.

Some very sensible comments on here and I for one wish Nick well and thank him for his efforts. No doubt the haters will continue to hate, thats' their perogative, but lets face it how many of them have ever attempted to run a league football club, as we all know hardly an easy task. It may well prove to be a masterstroke a few years down the line and nice to know he will still be associated with the club as a life president and hopefully can share in a successful future for us in years to come. UTG!

I'll bet Nick Higgs has the best match day experience ever tomorrow! He can probably just watch a game of football and not have to worry about all the other stuff!
As others have said, he has done his best (with his money!). He has been royally screwed by Sainsburys and Radice!

The work that he has done on the new stadium deserves a lot of credit.
Yes Sainsburys shafted him and us but does anyone really think that the new owners would have been interested if the new stadium hadnt been lined up. They talk about potential but would that potential have been there if our future lay at the Memorial Stadium?
Nick Higgs taking his eye off the ball may have cost us a season in the conference - but he may also have just negotiated a deal that secures our long term future and loses our " Rag bag Rovers " reputation once and for all.
The guy has made mistakes but on the whole it seems that he leaves Rovers in a far far better place that they were when he became Chairman and ultimately that is all we could ask of him.

I thank him for what he did and what he tried to do, the guy was never comfy being on the radio or Tv but always gave it a go. We have all sorts of folk at this club and I don't think any went out to wreck us, so I thank them all. I do think we might have to pull our necks in a bit now as we are not dealing with local money men but World money men, they might not understand us and how we act at first so lets try and welcome them and educate them to our ways slowly ! UTG
