"They took 40,000 fans to the Conference final" I'm guessing Toni the Till provided him with those figures! BRING BACK THE TILL!

Positive interview IMO.
For those hoping we'll be in for Ronaldo on Monday etc then maybe not so.
The fact is I'd be more concerned if our new owners were talking of splashing the cash as, if it didn't bring us success, I'd fear they'd quickly lose interest and walk away leaving us up sh*t creek.
Talk of building a sustainable football club which doesn't make a loss year after year is realistically far better. Not as exciting perhaps, but without question more important.
He also says the debt will be wiped out over time.
He says the right things regarding developing the commercial aspect of the club and investing in youth etc. Let's be honest, it's what every one of us have always cried out for.
In many respects it also ensures we don't try and buy our way to success like the 82ers have tried (and failed to) previously.
I know there will be some fans underwhelmed by the interview who would have been hoping we'd have been splashing the cash but the reality is that this approach is definitely the better one in terms of safeguarding the future of our club.
Regarding the UWE.... this is difficult to gauge. They obviously have some concerns around the current plans. It will be interesting to see what happens. Either way they say we DEFINITELY need a new stadium.
He's also a far better an interviewee than Higgs ever was!

Yes a positive interview in the main and as you say he comes across much better than Higgs BUT it is clear now that UWE is not a done deal and that there are aspects they are not completely happy with. Perhaps a redeveloped Mem is still a possibility instead.

Fantastic news.

My concerns going into this press conference were that the money would come with an ego. I don't see any of that in WAQ and he's already talking about building for the future, sustainable growth and the club being debt-free. What more can we ask for in this day and age? This man is here for the right reasons and to once again quote Mr Higgs, "I sincerely believe that Bristol Rovers can count itself as being very fortunate to attract the interest of Mr Al-Qadi and his family. " As a Rovers fan there's always going to be some trepidation whenever there's "good news" and I certainly remain open to the possibility that this won't work out, but just maybe I'm erring on the side of optimism with regards to our new owners, and it feels good.

Well to me it sounded like " we cannot talk about uwe until the court case is over" That's what was said in the press conference (which is no different to what Higgs has been saying) but in this interview he said that they will only move forward with building UWE once and if all aspects of the deal are right but it is clear we need a new stadium.

Very impressed! He said everything that I would've wanted to hear (except perhaps we're getting a new stadium tomorrow!).

40,000 at the conference final? Ha. That's going to give everyone a stiffy over on OTIB.

Came across exactly as I expected, a very well educated man with his head firmly screwed on his shoulders. No arrogant big money talk but lots of common sense. His advisors have already had several meetings with UWE and he and his advisors are looking at all aspects of the new stadium costings etc, he accepts we need the stadium so I think a bit more patience from all of us is called for, after all he has only been the owner for two hours!

I agree with everything that he said. The same issues which Higgs couldn't quite grasp.
