In my opinion, he's becoming a bit of scapegoat. He's played 3 games and is getting bashed.
Saturday was not a game to judge him. It was a very windy day, very few played well. Perhaps only- Gaffney.
Lawrence won the header that set up Brown to deliver the cross to Brown. I felt he grew into the game and will prove to be a decent signing overall. He does tackle. Doesn't always charge back but does ok.
At Portsmouth he was poor, but so was the the whole team.
By no means has it been a perfect start. But he's a good player and he'll do well for BRFC.

He was a top quality player and will still have the football brain even if he hasn't got the legs he once had. Everyone needs to have a scapegoat. Mine are Montana and Gosling I haven't seen more than two minutes of quality from either of them.

He was bought in as cover to keep us in the hunt in the event of injuries. Makes sense to me as we're still in the hunt.

He was really awful at Accrington. Fact. If any of the others were that bad DC would have dropped them. as for Montanna, he is quite good but rarely gets the chance to show it. DC likes sideways and backwards football, and now with Lawrence he likes slow football. Yes my scapegoat is Useless Gosling, who I thought would have gone somewhere (Torquay) in January

As far as Lawrence thought he did OK on Saturday so perhaps he's finally finding his feet at Rovers.

I speak as i find. Lawrence has been poor since he joined, Accrington and Portsmouth he was terrible. The first half against Morecambe he did nothing but bottle 50/50 balls and misplaced about every pass he made. 2nd half he did much better. As an experienced pro if the team is pulling him down he should be the one to rally the troops and drag them up. Ive seen nothing of him doing that, and if that had been Lines, he would have been dropped next game no question. When you start moving players around to accomodate a player (Manse at LW against Pompey..!!), Lawrence or whomever regardless of form, then yes, it becomes an irritating issue. Especically when that player continues to be poor. Gosling and Montano have flashes of brilliance. Gosling against Notts Co at home ran the LW that night, if we had Gaffney playing we would have won 2-0. But we had no one to finish his great crossing, that said no other game he has stood out. Montano needs a proper chance, trouble is, he is so ring rusty and lacks match sharpness that when he does come in, his performance is below everyone's expectations.

If our new owners do start spending on new players then surely replacing the likes of Gosling & Montano is the first thing they really need to do?

He watered me off against Portsmouth last week.!
I watched him lose possession, in Pompey's half, stand with his hands on his hips and watch them run up the pitch to score their third goal....shocking. Can you imagine the Beard doing that? Me neither..!
I might be in the minority, but I cant honestly say he's better than anything we already have at the Club.

Saturday was my first experience of seeing Lawrence live, but had heard the less then flattering reports of his previous games. As per previous reports, I thought he was useless in the 1st half, but marginally better in the 2nd.
Hope that his footballing brain will help us at the sharp end of the season, but at the moment, can't help but feel that he's a square peg in a round hole!

I am surprised you are complaining LP!!

I'd put him on the bench next few games and make him earn his place.

when I heard we'd signed an experienced league one pro who had won promotion from league two, I was actually quite pleased. However, having watched him for the first time against Morecambe I have totally changed my view. I thought he was overweight and slow and didn't seem to know how to get into the game. I did see glimpses of a decent football brain with some good passes which our players didn't read but unfortunately too many others went straight to the opposition. I don't think you can play Lawrence and Lines together in centre midfield as neither of them wants to do the dirty work. Just my opinion.

I sense DC hopes Lawrence will be a better version of Monkhouse, given Browner probably put in more crosses on Saturday than for a while perhaps it's working?

He is an intelligent player but like most of our midfield lacks any real pace.
We need a stong holding player in midfield to allow the likes of Lawrence and Linesy to create the chances for our forwards.
I admire Sinclair's efforts but in my view his "all-action" style of play doesn't work alongside these kinds of players it means we end up become exposed to the quick counter-attack as he is often out of position .
