Me my son and daughter have only had a season ticket for the past three years and in that short amount of time we have witnessed our relegation from the football league, promotion at the first attempt and then being taken over from wealthy Jordanians. Just one question to all you hardcore long term supporters.... How the hell have you all coped for so long I'm 33 but I feel like I'm going on 80!!!!! But like you rightfully say we will always be there with pride and passion cheering on the boys in blue and white!!!!!!

All the adversity makes us stick supporting the club, from stand fires, staduim moves to dropping into Conference football, if we do ever get to the UWE it would all make a fascinating book to read?

It's been 30 odd years of ups and downs heartache and jubilation for me but I wouldn't swap my club for any in the world. The last three have been pretty crazy for sure you must be thinking what have I got myself in too !!

To be honest I have always followed the gas but never really attended matches due to work and family obligations, as my kids got older and started getting an interest in football there was only one club they were going to support. It really p****s me off when you see all the young kids walking around with man Utd , Chelsea , Liverpool shirts etc when we have a local club just up the road! But they both for some strange reason love the gas and they haven't missed a home game since getting their season tickets , gasheads are one of a kind and I'm proud to be a part of it (sometimes lol)

But like you rightfully say we will always be there with pride and passion cheering on the boys in blue and white!!!!!! you get used to it, and after a while you remember the good times not the bad times. away games are often a mint laugh and not always as bad a result as you might expect. I haven't done all my 'stats' but after a brief look at the away games I've been to over the years I realised I've actually seen quite a lot of wins, and not that many awful losses. Rovers really are the greatest club in the world to support. I really genuinely wouldn't swap it for any team. mad, frustrating, amazing, weird, loud, quiet, funny, stupid. it's all in there. I can generally hold my head up high when I tell people I'm a gashead, and with a bit of self-deprecating humour I usually find a lot of respect comes back to you.

WTF can kids learn from supporting a team miles away, who they'll never go in the flesh to watch, and who are expected to win most of their games? Gil-Scott Heron said that the revolution will not be televised... well, it's a bit like that with plastic football. Football is played on grass, not the TV. in fact supporting a lesser team builds character, and gives you a far more realistic outlook on life, and the idea of success.

Totally agree, when my daughter has p.e lessons at school she always wears her rovers shirt and she always gets the usual "rovers they're rubbish man Utd are much better" her reply has always been the same, "how many times have you been to see them this season?" That usually shuts them up.

My Twin girls first home match was against Mansfield on that fateful day . I thought they would never come again but no they lifted my spirit and wanted to go to nearly all the games in the conference they wore the shirt with pride . I remember many away game last season when I wasn't sure about going as it was a fair distance even Gateshead but off we went and the new spirit and pride was for all to see mixing with other mad long suffering Rovers fans . Yes it's been a struggle at times but I know my girls love wearing the shirt and pass on this incredible feeling to their friends Long live Bristol Rovers and Up The Gas !

Do agree it's great being a Gashead we have had it seems more bad/tough times than i would care to remember but when the good times are good they are GREAT! Also other clubs out there whose fans i admire last night for example Wombles fans imagine what they have been through club relocated, re-branded, had to reform after all the good times they had, then virtually starting all over again, Pompey the same had it all Premiership Fa cup Euro football and now look at them but the supporters are still there averaging 15/16000 for league two.
