Well, I'll put as much effort into this as some players put into the game today. The things that stood out for me...
- Wycombe were crap. But still showed more endeavour in the final third than we did in ours.
- We don't have anywhere near as much quality (edit: in MF/up front) as we need to get into league 1
- The midfield was completely non-existent, doesnt matter who had played up front, they would've got no service (not Ollie Clarkes biggest fan but thought he was okay today)
- The amount of hoofing from the back was embarrassing. The lack of movement off the ball was also embarrassing and the biggest factor in us being useless today IMO.
- Bodin played well when he came on. Mildenhall pulled off some superb saves.
- Lawrence was getting some awful stick, I still thinks there's quality he can bring to the team but how many more chances can we give him.
- Whoever gave away the free kick for their goal needs shooting. Such a needless shirt pull which completely killed the little bit of momentum we had, and obvs a goal for them which you could see coming in slo-mo
- Pretty rubbish atmosphere.
- Nice to see Mr Al-Qadi in the crowd at half time
- Shame about the couple of idiots at the end getting handy with the stewards
After today (and the past few weeks) I struggle to envisage us being in the play offs. That was so flat and uninspiring today I dont know how its gonna get any better when we need to most.
Oh and why we didnt give their keeper more of a hard time for his elbows off the ball, play acting, w4nker signs at us, I'll never know. He got off lightly.

Fair comment cannot argue with what you say! But keep the faith 42 points still available and at the start of the season did you really think we would be play offs, I didnt

Nah, nah. It was our horrible cynical approach to the game. Wycombe fan said so. And Wycombe were brilliant - Ainsworth said so!!!

To be fair we can play better but we were away we had 14 shots and 9 corners but the ref gave 17 fouls against us but only 8 for Wycombe

Oh yeah - the ref! He plumbed new depths of bungling moronic incompetence. I gotta say McChrystal should'be been off, but ref bottled every big decision.

We have done most of the 'hard' section. We have a LOT of games left against lower teams. Problem might be that this sticky patch & lack of goals / creativity is hardly the best preparation for hopefully putting a few weaker teams to the sword.

After watching the low lights after getting home I am not so sure that theirs was not an own goal not decisive from the camera view

Pretty depressed about today's result and our recent form, but looking at our season and the pattern so far I still think we will finish in the playoffs. This season we seem to have runs so we will have a run. Of 4or 5 wins or unbeaten and then a run of 4 or 5 poor results and so on. So by my reckoning we are due a run of good results.

Agree with pretty much all the OP.
Main thing that screamed out to me watching the game is how slow the side is. Other than Leadbitter from RWB, we had absolutely no genuine pace at all to hurt Wycombe with.
IMO one of the main reasons we went down under Ward was because we had zero attacking pace, and atm we're playing very one-paced lineups.
Pace is the main thing that hurts defences, and we have none.
Taylor, Harrison, Montano, Bodin and Lines are the only players we have who can move with the ball with any speed.
None of them started and two of them got limited time off the bench.
Staring a slow CB with poor distribution as a wide CB in a back 3 is also asking for trouble IMO (McChrystal).

Perhaps DC decided yesterday was a game we just need to slow Wycombe down and not use pace but go long? It very nearly worked if the ref hadn't bottled the penalty decision, plus a draw wouldn't have been a disaster if we hadn't given away a poor free kick/defended it properly.

Is that good? It's something to look at but nothing the club can do about. We are where we are but we are more than capable of doing better. There is a long way to go and teams around us will drop points. All we, the fans, can do is get behind the team. The season to get excited about is possibly the next one. This is when we can see the true influence of our new owners come forward. I believe that we can go up this season, and until it is mathematically impossible to do so I will keep the faith. UTG
