Don't forget Jocky Alexander. Jocky was a right back. Vaughan Jones was left back and the best I've seen in the blue and white quarters. Jocky was a right winger who became a right back, an absolute legend, the sheds really **** themselves when he was playing; the best living left back is undoubtedly Vaughan Jones, captain during the promotion season, hard as ******* nails, a leader who lead by example, always got the best out of his players including Devon. Right - so just to be a petulant, we have Lindsay parsons, Trevor challis and Vaughan Jones. So for most folks under late 20s, LB is the best left back in living memory.

I'd put him ahead of Challis (and Lescott) but behind Parsons and Jones. Always thought TC was a sending off waiting to happen - rarely feel the same about LB.

I'm in my early 20s and although I do remember Trevor challis (fifa helped!) I couldn't comment on his ability. So yes you are right, brown is probably the best left back in living memory for me.

Robbie Ryan for a few games... But my favourite unsung hero(who played both full back positions) was Aaron Lescott. Lescott is probably my favourite Rovers player since I've been watching, ignoring the obvious such as Lambert etc.

I think that Lee Brown is good in this division, but I don't think that he would be good enough in a higher division. My favourite Rovers left back was Alex Munro, mind you he wouldn't stay on the pitch for long these days.

Brown is far better than Lesscott was for us and is also probably better than Challis was as well.
In fairness to Challis, he was from a different era of full back. He was the 'defend first' type full back as opposed to the modern far more attacking full back who get more glory..

Lindsey Parsons and Phil Roberts best pair of FBs in tandem. Didn't see any before 1966.

Josher Watling. (Oooh, so close!) Whoops! Sorry pardon. But the fact that I'm old enough to remember him (very well, actually) explains the reason I got his name wrong.
