I was surprised to be honest, as I thought taking over the sponsorship was a good way of getting money in to the club without causing FFP problems. So some possibilities;
We really still do need to behave like money is tight, so the £100k from the raffle is still essential
or
Its just a Red Herring as FFP doesnt apply to us in this season or next as we've come up from the conference & they are going to pour money in regardless
I'm really not sure where we are, we are certainly recruiting big time off the field, and will have to watch that when FFP kicks in for the 2017/18 Season.
At this point I am just reminding myself we are NOT a rich club, we just have a rich owner (Marcus Evans has a huge fortune, but Ipswich Town don't see much of that!!)
What do you all reckon?

I recon every penny that comes into the club from other sources is a penny that doesn't have to come out of Wales pockets and that can only be a good thing...

Feel quite sure Wael will use his money to help our club in other areas. Seriously though think its a good thing continuing it, nice to see local business's on the shirt and in that way continues the family club image which our owners appear to embrace.

Even if they'd wanted to change and had time to change it, istm bad form to shut down an event that lots of local businesses were already invested in.

Either it's too late to stop the raffle or £100K is very good sponsorship for div 2, any just because Man C's owners sponsor the shirts doesn't mean we're likely to do the same.
As far as the FFP is concerned I can't see how employing a Project Manager for the stadium project effects the playing budget??

I think its a case that application forms were sent out a few months ago and lots were already returned (according to Kerry) so its easier to continue doing that.

It will take at least 6 months to source a new sponsor, and that will be hard going given there aren't many businesses willing to invest in shirt sponsorship below the prem. So won't happen in time for 16/17 season and may never be able to get more than we do from lottery unless / until we get much higher up pyramid

Can anyone confirm a 100 businesses have entered the raffle this year ( 100 x 1,000 = 100 K) ? As I know in previous seasons we had around 65 - 80 businesses so nowhere near 100k !

It's £1250 this year , so 80 entries will bring in 100k
Pretty sure it was nearly 80 last year
Also I think interest will bill high bearing in mind what's going on at the club and the potential increased exposure it brings ?

Way too late to go back on the raffle now, there will (hopefully) have been a fair few entries. Can't just decide to call it off! Would make us look very bad to those that did enter. Let's start building that side of the club from this summer onward!

Why turn down 100K ? We are a business and the idea that our owners won't try to get as much revenue as possible from this business is mad. Plenty of other ways Wael can throw money at the club, but not sure that is his style anyway - much prefer him to set the club up to be sustainable and profitable than depend on him to keep bailing us out like they depend on Lansdown at Ashton.

If we're going to have a 40 million quid loan for our stadium build with the Arab Jordan Investment Bank then the least they could do is sponsor the shirts I reckon.
