Out of interest, does anyone know if the "easily added"' 2nd tier at the UWE is all the way round the bowl or just on one side? I'd guess it's only two sides. One side has boxes in the way, and the tote/popular/blackthorn end has UWE stuff (a media and teaching centre) in the way, too. True that was all mentioned in the original plans, but I think it was Michael Cunnah who talked about looking at the internal layout and getting that right too. Depending on what is agreed in discussions with UWE then I wonder if we'll see the internal layout changed? It will be very interesting to see the new team's plans for the stadium unfold.

I think it's now pretty clear the new stadium will not be 21700. Henbury can you confirm this?! No change to plans - yet

Interesting - I assumed the initial plans for expansion were bigger than that... clearly not. Seems the original plans were a less ridiculous version of what Cardiff's stadium is now then? Less ridiculous being without red seats?

The new regime are making all the right noises as far as I am concerned. Perhaps us Gasheads need to higher our expectations to the level of our new owners, not lower them to the level of Buckle and co. "Patience is a virtue" they say and I for one am quite happy to stay patient, as I fully expect to be attending games at the UWE in the not to distant future.

I work in MK occasionally & went to MK dons stadium a few years ago when Rovers played them.
It is a very well designed stadium that was originally built with both tiers however the upper tier had no seats fitted initially for the first few years.
I hope that the new owners go for a similar design as if we really are serious about eventually following Swansea, Cardiff (now back in the Championship), Bournemouth & probably Brighton into the premiership then 21,700 is not big enough.
As long as the new stadium has a capacity of 1 more than Ashton Gate then i'll be happy In the case of Swansea, their capacity is less than 21000 and it is filled for most games and there is a waiting list for Season ticket holders. I have been lucky to see the occasional game since I have moved to West Wales as spare seats are available for some matches. They have been in talks with the local council who own the ground about purchasing it in order to increase capacity but possibly due to decreased council revenues from government it would appear the council may well be trying to persuade the club to offer them a far more substantial financial settlement. At the moment with no news forthcoming it would appear a stalement has been reached, either that or the club have delayed the process until they know their place in the Premier league is ensured this season. As regards atmosphere the Swansea Jacks make the Liberty rock on matchdays, no question about it!

Less ridiculous being without red seats? Well yes, but also it looks so out of place. Like the beginning of a phase of building, rather than a completed vanity project from the owner! Essentially, if a single stand at UWE was expanded by a few thousand it wouldn't look mental. 10k on the other hand...

No change to plans - yet Do you foresee us having to go through the planning process again before starting building? I'm notsure if we would need new planning approval if the expansion was just internal, i.e. a second tier on two sides taking capacity up to 26,000. Although even that modest extra capacity could need more parking and would generate extra traffic, so it might need to be nodded through. If the new owners wanted to go for the full monty, however, and literally raise the roof to take capacity up to 35,000 as envisaged in the original plans, the raised rooflines and parking/traffic issues would need formal approval, I'm sure. This is how Swansea's stadium looks now and would look if they expand as they would like to 33,000.

Wael of all the places to go, you went to Franchise FC. Sack the board..... I think the significance of the MK Dons visit is that it was constructed using a system developed by the same contractors (Buckingham Group) that we have lined up for our stadium. The off the peg nature of the design should in theory mean a quicker and cheaper build. It will I believe be sructurally almost identicle. So I guess it's a 'try before you buy' visit by our board.

I'm just happy we're looking at stadiums with the realistic option of building one ourselves. That's enough for me after all these years I must say!

There is also a link with Michael Cunnah. The MK stadium was designed by Populous - the same team used for Wembley.....
