Ahh Warmley away. Classic. I wonder if it was a sell out and the fans had a beamback to watch the game on? If not then the board missed a trick...

Surprised rugby seems to have been the bigger sport of the two "football" games back in the later 1800's?

Were "The Arabs" a different outfit? There are loads of reports for their games around Bristol from 1883, and this from September 29th, 1882 (Bristol Mercury): Attachment DeletedBut that's before the general 1883 date......?? Love a bit of history, me.

Nice to see the old 2-2-6 formation getting some use.

Sure that's association football? It might be the Rugby football team we took the Arabs name from.

Nice to see the old 2-2-6 formation getting some use. Maybe DC will try that against Creepy on Saturday

I'm taking a marker pen to Stevenage. Happy to 'adjust' anyones '1883' badge on their shirt to '1882', for just a £1 each.....

Strange how my mind recalls nothing about the Mansfield game apart from the horrendous outcome but clearly remembers the fullback, half backs and forward line of the sixties and earlier. Were you around then Topper when 4 4 2 etc was unheard of and 2 3 5 the normal and only formation?

If we still had string crossbars we'd never have got relegated in the first place
