So what do we reckon he's on now? A few grand a week? 4k week I was told Unless it was Tom, his Mrs, his agent, our president or our accountant who told you, I'll take what you say with a pinch of salt.

Surely Tilson was a Championship player when we signed him for big money, I can't see how you can compare a young Div 2 player to an experienced Championship player, best comparison for me would be Steve Yates when he was at Rovers. Of course Lockyer can be compared to Tilson or anyone else who someone sees the similarities in playing styles with. We all know the `divisions` said players played in. And I thought Steve Yates played in the third division and championship with Rovers?!! I know it's always difficult to compare teams and players from different era's, but I do believe that the football of the present is better than in previous years. This is down to the Prem, and to some extent the Championship having a large number of foreign players. This means that home nation players have to compete lower down the league pyramid, so the standard in leagues one and two is now higher than its ever been. I think that's why we've had an opportunity to re- sign Browner and Tom. With goal scorers it's a bit more difficult, everyone wants a 20 goal a season man (except tbone) and in the past MT would be gone. I only hope that a combination of Darrell and the new owners money can persuade him to stay. UTG.

Gabbutt was before my time. But for me he's akin to Andy Tilson at his peak. Crazy to think Locks is only 21. He's also got a bit more on the ball than Tilson. Surely Tilson was a Championship player when we signed him for big money, I can't see how you can compare a young Div 2 player to an experienced Championship player, best comparison for me would be Steve Yates when he was at Rovers. I started properly watching the gas around '97. So Don't have too many memories of Yates. There's not been too many CBs of note since that time. Steve Elliot perhaps but Elliot was different kind of player. The similarities I see in Locks and Tilson- both thin build but mobile in the air. Both love responsibility. Yes, we signed Tilson as championship player but if the rumours are to be believed we could have quite possibly lost Lockyer to a that same tier.

What you think it what cost to replace a young CB of his quality plus the wages He's a good investment and in this day and age with wages it's cheap,dc's way of not giving out pretty big wages will have to go if we rise through the divisions else we simply won't get the decent players Look at those turnips down the road as an example Utg

Was it the clubs accountant or, some random bloke down the pub?

No reason to lie unless he's a WUM or we plan on selling TL during the summer, there no way a possible Div 2 could pay £200K in wages plus bonuses on top.

But you would pay over that just to sign him?

The 90's had the best rovers team to me and the fact that yates/Holloway/penrice/Martyn/Bailey all went on to play in the premiership surely proves that...back then we played 44-2 every week and played with out and out wingers which made it very exciting to watch and we never gave the ball away as much as we do these days....Don't get me wrong I love watching every week and we play the best football in l2 apart from Pompey which I think we're on par with football wise and before everyone starts shouting we're better as we are 3rd at the moment I'm just talking about football style...but since the 90's it hasn't changed that much apart from formations and if man Utd 90's team played in the prem now they would win it( I hate Utd so just an example) and for £4K a week if he's not on that he should be...in the conference south I know players who are on £750 a week so 4K is cheap....

Wouldn't surprise me, 4k is a top league one wage, but he has earned that contract, we've paid top money to players in the past who have never been worth it but this lad has proved himself. Also protects our asset as well. Matty taylor will get a similar offer i expect. Thank god for wael or tom would almost certainly be off.

Ex-Conference teams get 2 years grace, I believe. Or, we open a branch of AJIB in the club shop, and charge them exorbitant rent.

You get one season's grace i think. One more season after that at the mem, then our income will rise considerably, so really only one season to worry about.

Surely we've had one season back in the league already? As far as only one more season left at the Mem I'll believe that when I see the roof going on our stadium!

I'll believe it when I'm sat in it with a gob full of pasty ! I know it's heresy to suggest it, but after the new owners have had a couple of months in charge, I would love to hear something about the new stadium, such as will it be bigger/smaller, when it will be started, if it will be at UWE or elsewhere, if it will be externally funded, or indeed anything at all. No news at all frustrates me. This is probably not on-message.
