I thought that Matty might have been suffering from a bit of a virus yesterday. He looked leaden footed and a bit sluggish, whereas he's usually always on the move and pulling the defenders all over the place. That said, he was in the right place at the right time, and pulled it out of the fire for us. Also, I don't think he missed a sitter in the first half; I was sitting in direct line of his effort, and he clinically put the ball beyond the reach of the keeper but couldn't quite put enough swerve on the ball to pull it inside the post. He executed the shot in a micro-second and it was a half chance at best. Hope he's back to his best on Tuesday. In fairness Paul Tait always put it clinically past the reach of the keeper, usually about 30 yards wide of the reach of the keeper. Barcelona never signed him even though he was clinically efficient.

Interestingly you mentioning Paul Tait ,he is now an Everton u18 coach and is highly regarded there and been credited with many of their youngsters breaking into the first team.

I think Marcus Stewart scored in 9 consecutive games in the 95/96 season. They were not all league games though. I stand to be corrected. No. Marcus also thought he scored in 9 consecutive games but he didn't. He scored in two, then failed to score I believe against Huddersfield, then scored in the next seven. Over to Mike Jay to confirm. Marcus Stewart got 8 in 9 games in 1995 -96 ( League 1 ) but didn't net in the 5th game of that sequence - still very impressive !

Are you "Terry from Coleford" as that was the excuse he came up with on 20man after the match? He seems whenever MT was an off day he's ill but if Gaffney etc have one they should be rested! If we can actually get Taylor, Gaffney, Bodin & Montano to all click in the same game, or games, we'd surely destroy any team in Div 2, and probably Div 1 as well.

The fact that he is the divisions leading scorer and the best striker we have had since Cureton (probably) Still didn't stop the bone head behind me telling us all Taylor is sh**. When I said "without Taylor we wouldn't be where we are and in fact we could be in the bottom half of the Conference". He told me I was talking crap as the club would have got someone better in, although he couldn't say who. I just added that I found it difficult to think of a better striker in Division 2 other than the one who had scored the most.
A) Why do people like this go to football B) Why do they watch us and C) Why are they so bloody thick?

He somehow managed to get in without bringing a child with him.

Anyone else noticed a guy called Vardy playing for Leicester this season. He's scored a lot of goals, and some of them are so good that they could almost be described as "Tayloresque".
