I hope he does it....some of his goals have been great,FGR away in the play offs superb control and finish from a tight angle...Mansfield away 98th minute headed winner are my favourites..not comparing him to any of the Rovers goalscorers that I have seen but I will always remember his important goals when Rovers needed them.

I think Marcus Stewart scored in 9 consecutive games in the 95/96 season.
They were not all league games though.
I stand to be corrected.

Although he proved today he can still miss apparent sitters!

In the modern game, equalling the record is actually more of an achievement than the original.

If we go up automatically there will be no cup for his main sail.

Just think, if Mr. Taylor put away all the chances that some posters on here think he should, he'd have 95 goals this season. Instead he's the highest scorer in the 4 leagues by just a couple of measly goals. Some of us should be careful what we wish for. UTG!

Not sure why GasheadGaz though you were a Ted. If you are you're doing a good job of hiding it!

Still didn't stop most of most thinking in the first half yesterday "how the hell did he miss that chance"? If he'd put a few of those away he'd now be 30 goals, which would be an hell of an achievement for a player released by FGR just two seasons ago.

That's the first real sitter I can remember him missing in a very long while to be fair.
It happens to every striker.

No. Marcus also thought he scored in 9 consecutive games but he didn't. He scored in two, then failed to score I believe against Huddersfield, then scored in the next seven. Over to Mike Jay to confirm.

Stewart definitely would have failed to score against Huddersfield as they were in the division above as they beat us in the Play Off Final.

I thought that Matty might have been suffering from a bit of a virus yesterday. He looked leaden footed and a bit sluggish, whereas he's usually always on the move and pulling the defenders all over the place.
That said, he was in the right place at the right time, and pulled it out of the fire for us. Also, I don't think he missed a sitter in the first half; I was sitting in direct line of his effort, and he clinically put the ball beyond the reach of the keeper but couldn't quite put enough swerve on the ball to pull it inside the post. He executed the shot in a micro-second and it was a half chance at best.
Hope he's back to his best on Tuesday.
