Pity that this made the national news but what they did to us and more goes on without a thought from the news stations.

If any newspaper or TV newsroom printed or broadcast any item criticising Shitsburys over the Mem deal the B@stards would hit them with a massive law suit. They would sue because the High Court has said on two occasions that they were entitled to consider their contract with BRFC 1883 ltd at an end and were also granted a costs order. They would therefore go to town on the offending media and no doubt extract a huge payout which they would then generously. donate to charity, thereby making themselves look good. They would also gain a great deal of free press into the bargain. I'm afraid there would be no media brave or foolish to run such a story, besides which, the local media covered the whole sorry saga from beginning to end, but had to report the facts and more or less agree at end that Sainsburys had followed due process and done nothing wrong. There would be little interest in the story outside of Bristol, and not everyone in the area were unhappy with Sainsburys, who could forget the glee with which the Sh1!heads received the news, don't forget it has fuelled a large part of the One Turd 206 + page thread on us.

I think it's time to realise that Higgs and his legal team signed a the contract drawn up by Sainsburys. He was badly advised from start to finish. Just compare Sedgemoor District Councils deal with Tesco not so long back.
Tesco pulled out because of the same reasons but had to pay £6 million compensation ordered by a court because the contract was drawn up by SDC/SCC and Tesco signed it. No quibbles or court cases because they were in the wrong.
Its a bitter pill to swallow for some but that's the black and white of the situation. It's all worked in our favour because of that so rejoice!!

What's the betting "Ronnie & Claude" will be looking for new jobs on Monday!

Sainsburys had no such clause because, and here is the surprise, they drew it up and Higgs signed it. Trash were a hindrance but not the cause of Sainsbury walking away scott free. The Contract was. Water under the bridge and the Rovers future is very bright!!

I await with bated breath the next issue of "Bishopston Matters". They gave so much air time to TRASH and how the Mem needed to be saved. Let's see if they congratulate the only team that plays at the sacred Mem on their promotion. Some how I doubt it.

Why would the press/media try and hunt them down? They were entitled to terminate because we signed a contract that allowed them to do so in certain circumstances. They did nothing illegal or wrong in a civil law context. The High Court and the Court of Appeal made that quite clear. There's no story there. We signed a contract which left them with too many get-out clauses, and when they felt they needed to get out, they used that right. It's not nice or friendly, but to them it's just a business deal, the kind they do with suppliers and partners all the time. And they employ the kind of lawyers who make sure they can exit those deals if they need to. I wonder if Wael will be using Burges Salmon in any of his future contracts?

How do you know it didn't have a similar clause but it couldn't be used as there was no Trash type protest delaying development? What if NH had no choice but to sign or Sainsbury's wouldn't proceed with the deal?
