One of the best strikers we've had. That's a bit unfair on Paul Tait.

I have been reading this exchange with some interest. The quasi-erudite depictions of Adam are in some cases laughable. I'll leave you all to deduce which depictions I allude to. I coached Adam and his brother when they were boys. My son is a friend of the Virgo boys. They are good people. Comparisons with the evolution of Brighton are very apt - Brighton as a football club is a model of emotional intricacies and triumph over despair. The fan base has been through very challenging times. Adam's plaudits for Darrell speak volumes for the Rovers' manager's achievements alongside his staff. Given the optimism that prevails now regarding the Rovers, a tone of respect and modesty would enhance everyone's views, in my opinion. To be fair to that article, I thought a lot of it made sense. As soon as the take over happened, I had massive hopes that, of all the models for progressing the club further, we would try to emulate that of either Brighton or Swansea. In my opinion both of them got their planning spot on - and look at what has happened to them.

I sense most are coloured by their memories of Adam as a very poor Rovers player, despite coming to us with a solid pedigree. Whether by injury or by age, Rovers was a season too far for him. I'll not pass judgement on his subsequent media career as I haven't watched much of him. However, his opinion of the situation at Rovers when he was here reflects what most of us feared and observed. Brighton's struggles do parallel ours, particularly in relation to getting a suitable stadium (we've just been at it four times as long as them!) I'm sure that we all aspire to achieving what they have done and I'd agree with Adam that Darrell Clarke has a major part to play in Rovers getting somewhere near there.
