Was amazingly 63 years ago at Eastville. Geoff Bradford scored a hat trick in 1953 in a 3-1 win against Newport County. If I remember correctly the final goal adorned the programme cover for quite a while afterwards.

There really is something about this squad. Similar in many ways to the GF squad of 89 - 90. But there's something that keeps reminding me of the 73 -74 team. Either way, I think we could be into a great era for BRFC.

I seem to remember that was Southend away on a Fri night, but not checked it out.

I've mentioned this before this wee but I can't remember us actually celebrating winning promotion at Eastville, rather than winning promotion whilst playing at Eastville?

Well I can certainly remember celebrating on the pitch after the last game with Brighton although the OP is correct promotion was ensured with a 0-0 draw at Southend, which incidentally set a club record at the time of only 5 defeats away from home.

I think the winning promotion in Bristol, as in the heading, refers to where promotion was actually confirmed.

I think Rovers missed out on being Champions by only drawing with Brighton. Remember thinking it would be a given being Rovers had stuffed them 8-2 away.

Can't even remember that save! Do remember the celebrations with the players in the stand though - and the long train journey back to Bristol. No official coaches that day so those who did go had to make their own way. Not easy getting to Southend for a Friday night game as I recall.
