So the summer of cricket starts today, its gunna be cold at Headingley. Cook needs just 36 runs to become the youngest man ever to reach 10,000 runs. Win the toss and bowl today, if its cloudy at Headingley the ball always moves, alot!
Cant see anything other than a whitewash, Sri Lanka have recently lost 3 or 4 of their star players, and the ones who have replaced them are nowhere near the same standard, yet.
The real test will come against Pakistan later in the summer.

Even Jimmy would struggle to match that!

So lunch on day 1, Eng 57/3. Run rate is a mind numbing 2.12
Its fair to say it hasn't been the most enthralling cricket so far.

Looks like they have found themselves a good player there.

He also scored a century last week against Leicestershire in the warm-up game.........although I'm aware that a century against Leicestershire is not something to write home about.

Tea, England 171-5, Hales 71*, Bairstow 54*
A good fight back from England, Bairstow in particular looks good.
And the run rate has gone up too, to over 3 runs per over.

Excellent bowling from England.
Eng: All out for 298 Sri Lanka: All out for 91 Anderson 5-16 Broad 4-21
So Sri Lanka are following on.
Broad & Anderson, how devastating are they!!!

So its day 1 of the second test Vs Sri Lanka.
England won the toss and decided to bat first.
Currently 75/2. Cook went for 15 & Hales 39.
Cook needs another 5 runs in the second innings to become the youngest batsman ever to reach 10,000 runs.
