I would have Rooney in midfield where we aren't particularly strong IMO and is his position. We should have been 3-0 down in that game against Germany if it wasn't for a poor decision by the linesman. Not to mention that it was in a friendly which in all honesty probably meant more to us than the Germans as we have a lot more to prove. Where in midfield? Sat behind the striker(s)? That's Dele Alli territory. Wide midfield? He doesn't have the pace. Deep midfield? So he can spray 40yd Hollywood passes? Nope, think not. Good first half performance from Rooney in midfield..

I wasn't sure why he was taken off, but perhaps since he was a man at 17 he might now be like a 35 year old who needs to be rested. He certainly looked better in midfield than upfront though.

How old is Rooney? 32, 33? Yet that was the first time he has played in a central midfield role for England. As I have already stated, they are shoe-horning him into the team, for what reason I don't know. If he is a top striker, then play him upfront. If he is a top class attacking midfielder, then play him there. The truth is we have better players in both those roles.

Even in his early days but especially now he has lot that yard of pace. How do you think he played the other night in midfield? What English player do you think would have played better?

He didn't do too badly, but you are missing the point. In my opinion, the TEAM will perform better without Rooney.

I don't get your point. Are you indicating Rooney is not a team player or what? If not that then who can play better in the midfield role he played in? I actually really like the look of our 3 now with Dier, Alli and Rooney in the centre. It's infront of that which was a bit disappointing for me against Russia.

It's all speculation and opinion. Did Kane have such a bad game because the service he received was poor? Lewandowski had a poor game for Poland. Was it because he's crap, or was the service given him poor, or were the Northern Irish defence excellent?
Regarding Rooney. Most of his goals for England have been against the really poor International teams. He has never been any good against the top teams. To suggest that now, at the age of thirty, he will develop into an International class central midfielder is stretching the imagination just a bit too far.

He was too static in general, Sterling and Lallana's service wasn't great but Kane was almost non existent, very little movement and when he did get the ball he gave the ball away too often. You still haven't told me who you would replace Rooney with? I don't see why he can't play well in centre midfield. Like I said, he played well enough against Russia to suggest he can do well there.

Kane had a bad game because he was a yard off the pace and IMO he is still in dejected Spurs mode.Nothing to do with Rooney who pulled the strings in midfield, allowed Alli to basically have a free role covered for Alli defensively and until he was taken off for weetabix legs ran the game.
The game was crying out for Vardy and his sharpness to replace the turd impression Kane. We didnt need Wilshere and f*cking Milner who like Gareth Barry should never play football for England.
Harry Kane looks physically and mentally drained and I will be disappointed if he starts ahead of Vardy on Thurs against Bales.

Rooney played well and was by no means the problem. I'm a big fan of Kane and he could be important for England for a decade potentially but as you say, he looked jaded. Sterling was poor also.
