Any predictions on who will win the euro's? I'm going to be bold and say Portugal, they've got a decent mix of youth and experience and a certain striker named ronaldo, Heard of him? I think they will be the competitions dark horse. They were absolutely sh*te against England mind you.

Be surprised if anybody outside of France, Germany, Spain or Belgium were to win it.
Croatia, Poland and Austria are dark horses.
We'll get knocked out in the quarters.
Muller top goalscorer.

He's the 'scapegoat' because of this nagging mistrust we all have of Hodgson and his team selections.....yes Rooney should be in the squad....but we all suspect he will be crowbarred into a starting XI and the rest of the team built around him. It's a lot like my opinion of O'Toole in 2013–14....enough individual performance so there wasn't too much media or fan pressure, but if you try picking a team without him in it quite often you will get a better team....

Yeah but that's not Rooney's fault. That's the managers. I think the England team is better with Rooney in it personally but definitely not up front. He should have been dropped back into midfield long before now.

I don't hate him at all....in the same way I only started to be annoyed by the JJOT thing after we got to the end of the season and looked back at what had happened. I think certain England XI's against certain oppositions are better with Rooney in the starting XI. But I suspect Hodgson will pick him regardless and mold a team around him that won't quite be as good as it could have been for other matches against other opponents.... Don't get me wrong, for the *next* game he could be the perfect player to start either up front or deeper.....I suspect he'll start every game and the rest of the XI will be picked around him....

Not saying you hate him but I get a general feeling of people having a chip on their shoulder about him. I hate how the British press raise someone up so high only to bring them down after. I actually agree with you about he will get picked whatever but that is partly because he is captain, the lack of competition for the captaincy in the first place raises issues in itself.

If you build a team around Rooney, it means a lot of other players not playing in their normal positions. The best England performance in recent times was away to Germany. Even at 2-0 down, we were playing good football. Rooney wasn't there ! Incidentally, just what is Rooney's best position? Forward....wide forward......midfield.....wide midfield......? Does anyone know? England have better player's than Rooney in every single one of those positions.

International football captaincy is basically about press conferences and sponsorship....I suspect we're one of the few countries who still hold 'international captain' as even vaguely important on the pitch any more.....

We should have been 3-0 down in that game against Germany if it wasn't for a poor decision by the linesman. Not to mention that it was in a friendly which in all honesty probably meant more to us than the Germans as we have a lot more to prove.

Normally, England just don't take 'friendlies' very seriously, both the players and the fans. Germany call these games "Tests". They are tests for the serious games, and therefore taken seriously.

That's Dele Alli territory. Wide midfield? He doesn't have the pace. Deep midfield? So he can spray 40yd Hollywood passes? Nope, think not.

As he is good going forward and tracks back well. So... ------------------ ---Dier------------------- Rooney-----------------------------Milner/Lallana ----------------------Alli------------------
