Finding is bullshit. Do Brazilians need funding? Do street kids get their rag footballs from a FIFA delegate?
Did you need funding to go play football as a child?
The main reason we are poor internationally is the rules of football were changed over the last 25 years (since the British got kicked out of it) to favour smaller, faster players.
That Spanish team were about 5 foot 8 on average and although the football was good at times, if you change the rules so you can't knock a man off the ball, you cannot disposses them. Hence the game changed to possession which we are not good at. Plus simulation and cheating are not traditionally acceptable in the UK but it was never an issue elsewhere.
Remember Maradona? Portugal? That's the way Southern Europeans and Americans play and we are too dumb to play back. Not so much now, as we now have the crybaby passive aggressive sh** in our game.
If premiership refs were reffing international games, I reckon we would have made finals regularly. Watch international games and then watch a prem games and you will see what I mean.
The public of the world likes OUR way of playing. We are the best exporter of football in the world but as long as we remain basically marginalised in FIFA and eufa, we will continue to have the game fixed for mainly Latino/med style football. The other point is our game is not good to play in the heat, which does not help.
Again, with the free movement issues, we can have free movement of anyone from anywhere. It' will soon (if leave win) just involve a form and a criminal check. Like in aus or the USA. Free movement of people benefits poorer states but it well and truly screws the richer one. Given the fact the EU is run by very left of centre folks and even ex east Germany communists, this is a good thing. It's redistribution. The racism shame reflex is the main weapon in making people lie down and accept being plundered. Social shame is a powerful weapon.

Why should our bleedin clubs find it difficult to gain a work permit for a highly talented Moroccan, Mexican, Nigerian etc but a Belgian, French, German of only average talent is made an easy bloody option. Surely it makes sense to treat everyone equally and let our clubs decide who they want to soddin sign. If we let every nation in then wouldn't be even worse, immigration wise, than being a member of the EU, isn't Brexit mainly about controlling immigration not pushing the door wide open? Should Brexit happen it will be interesting to see what the Government does about foreign footballers, whilst we might still need foreign doctors & nurses to run the NHS do we really need foreign footballers in the Premiership/Championship?

Don't think it will affect football in the uk much, don't even think it will affect the premier league playing in europe or our national teams. Someone mentioned not enough home grown talent, we'll lets hope when we leave, that it will be a touch more difficult for p/l teams to go abroad and buy success, and they will have to start reinvesting in homegrown players again
before someone says if we are not in the eu our teams cant play in eu countries ,just have a quick look at the euros, turkey are there ,israel dint qualify, so nothing to stop us playing abroad

Save it for General Chat. incorrect. The free movement of people is key topic in this football related debate, and that is my opinion on that topic. It's completely relevant, maybe controversial, or out of step with the media/general narrative. That isn't a cause for divorcing it from the discussion. If it's a mistake, fair dos. If like a lot of left wingers, you're trying to shut this down because you don't agree with it, I would like to ask you to not be intellectually dishonest in arguing that a topic directly related to a football issue is purely political and not on topic. It is.

I think you may find the European parliament is not run by left wingers .It's pretty much a split down the middle with the right wing probably having a slightly bigger slice. It might be something people would like to find out as its something we will be voting on !

It might be something people would like to find out as its something we will be voting on ! Economically you are almost on the money. The EU is run very much for the interest of large corporations. Banks, utility Giants etc. It's the closest thing to Mussolini's third way, a route between right and left. On social issues its further to the left of most trots. Completely and utterly whacko PC. Unisex insurance and annuity rates, destruction of family unit and ending culturally homogenous societies is a key objective. How is this demonstrated in football? Well, the dominance of large clubs is an obvious one. The multi cultural make up of the premier league is another. I think the most telling is observe the competency and corruption of the FA and FIFA and UEFA. UEFA allegedly fixed the 2009 Chelsea Barca match. I watched that game in disbelief as Chelsea were cheated out of 3 stonewall penalties. Many said that UEFA were not keen on another all English final. Anybody who saw that game cannot dispure there was a hint of foul play and I lost respect for barca and UEFA ever since. This is the attitude that may be present in the political spectrum, who knows?
