The post is such a horrid website, would copy and paste but am using a phone. To save you all clicks, not much new here. DC hopes to have most players deciding to stay or go by midweek, Taylor has until after his two week holiday so it's the end of the month for him. DC says wages for players he's interested in are inflated atm and he won't make a signing for the sake of it (typical DC!), wants 4/5 depending what happens with the core of last years 'winners'.

Bristol Rovers boss Darrell Clarke has revealed that every single out-of-contract member of his promotion-winning squad has had offers to join other clubs.
Clarke has so far managed to tie-down four of the initial 13 out-of-contract players to new deals and is hopeful of completing negotiations successfully with the majority of the others in the coming week.
The manager, who is yet to formally sign the new and improved three-year-deal he has agreed to in principle, said: "I'm pleased we managed to get Billy (Bodin), Daniel (Leadbitter) and James (Clarke) tied to new deals.
"They all contributed in different ways to what we achieved last season and I'm hopeful that we will get a few more over the line in the coming days.
"We're almost there with most of them, but the negotiations are not easy when other clubs are keen to take your players.
"Dan Leadbitter and Billy Bodin especially had five or six other offers on the table as has Matty Taylor, whose offers from elsewhere are currently numbering in double figures.
"Every club wants my players and that is the reality of the situation. Every club wants winners and my lads have shown over the last two years that is what they are. That doesn't mean we will be offering ridiculous wages to the boys because everybody has their price. There is nobody being held to ransom here.
"The players have decisions to make but I am expecting by the middle of the week most if not all will have decided whether their futures lie here or whether they see their careers continuing elsewhere."
In-demand striker Taylor is a notable exception and has been given more time to consider his future. He is likely to make a decision one way or the other soon after he returns from a two-week holiday towards the end of the month.
Rovers, meanwhile, have yet to add to their squad so far this summer, but Clarke added: "I've got half-an-eye on sorting out the players I want to keep and half on what we need to bring in.
"It is a juggling act at the minute. We've made enquiries for several players to get a feel for what they'd be asking for in terms of wages and at the moment the prices are a little steep.
"I won't be rushing into sign players for the sake of making a signing. We'll pay the right prices for the right players who have the right attitude. The key for us is to keep the majority of the squad we had last year and then add four or five quality players to the mix."
Although this is a little worrying because we might lose players we would like to keep, Matty being an obvious example, it is also huge step up from when we had players we wanted rid of but could not get them (and their high wages) off the payroll. This speaks volumes for the job DC has done and his eye for the right players.

Good news that we're not offering silly money. We don't want any mercenaries. In DC we trust.

Dont forget these agents/players might be setting their wage expectations high hoping someone take it.
More clubs than Rovers could be hanging on hoping the players lower what they want when they are closer to not having a job tied up.
Bit.of cat and mouse possibly

When was the last time we had a situation where we had to fight to hang onto the majority of our squad? In the past, we had trouble getting rid of them !

Of course this is the way to go really, but you have to think if we are struggling for goals come January there would be calls to sign someone who can score goals whatever the cost, then there is the added risk of not getting the right player in. At least with someone like Matty Taylor he is settled here and we know he works with this team, so I wouldn't be bothered if we pushed the boat out a bit more to keep him even though he has no L1 experience. He may not want to stay as im sure he is ambitious guy and needs to be getting as much as he can from the game at this stage, if that's the case good luck to him but he is replaceable like anyone at our level.

Think what we all need to learn is to be patience this summer and trust in DC, as the nearer we get to the transfer window closing the more players/agents wage demands will drop.

Hopefully the quality of the players wont drop as well!
I am always anxious for new signings to arrive, and get mad when very good players are already moving elsewhere, but that's just me. Its hard to not trust someone who has just got our team promoted twice.
