Harry Redknapp...
Just kidding, would go for Howe myself I think. Or Stuart Pearce to put the fear of God into the overpaid, under performers. Imagine losing to Iceland and going back to a dressing room with Uncle Woy sat waiting for a debrief compared to losing to Iceland and getting the Psycho treatment.

Player Manager? I like it. So long as he dropped himself.

Player Manager? I like it. So long as he dropped himself. Maybe he could make Joe Hart his No2. He'd be sure to drop him.

Steve Cotterill? Could make translations at press conferences tricky, and that is just to translate into English.
More seriously, who would be willing to put up with the hassle? Martin O'Neill and Arsene Wenger are regularly mentioned, but anyone worth their wage would be better off as a Premiership club manager.
After the recent debacle, I wonder if we should have a rule of nobody from the Prem, only Championship players and below. Surely couldn't be any worse.

Don't give a rat's ass. Whoever it is will be an FA stooge, ten years behind the times and managing a London club. Until those backwards looking grey suited retard of the FA go we will never be any good.

FA wouldn't apppoint either of those 2. Too outspoken. I like Pearce though, not afraid to say it how it is when it comes to the FA and English players.

Hoddle for me , played some of the best football I've seen from an England team was under that man. We were actually competing against the worlds best back then. I know he made some daft comments but at 58 I'm sure he's learned from past mistakes.

Doesn't matter who's in charge....we should change the selection criteria so players can only play for England if they are in the Championship or below. Let a manager pick a squad of hungry and (mostly) young players who want the riches of the Premier League but are also willing to work to earn them.....how could it be worse than the current shambles...?

Big Sam then. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36784554Sam Allardyce: What will England look like under him? Kevin Davies on Allardyce: "He won't stand for any nonsense." Is England ready for Big Sam? Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce will be confirmed as the new national team boss in the next 24 hours - but is the man affectionately known as 'Big Sam' the right person to take the national team forward? We take a look at what England could look like under Allardyce. Key ingredients Sam Allardyce won 80 of his 226 Premier League games as Bolton manager "There will be discipline," says Kevin Davies, who played under Allardyce at Bolton. "He will put the laws and rules down. At Bolton he had a bible which everyone had to read and sign up to. "It was the rules and regulations. The way we trained and prepared for games was all in there. It was a 20-25 page document that everyone had to adhere to." Expect experience and steel too - think Davies himself, Gary Speed, Fernando Hierro, Ivan Campo, Radhi Jaidi, Joey Barton, Michel Salgado and Sunderland destroyer Jan Kirchoff, all recruited by the Dudley-born manager. So will that mean a reprieve for 30-year-old defender Gary Cahill, one of the older members of a youthful Euro 2016 squad, or even a recall for John Terry at 35? Don't forget flair - from the man who signed French World Cup winner Youri Djorkaeff, Nigeria playmaker Jay-Jay Okocha and Wahbi Khazri, as well as signing Mark Viduka at Newcastle and almost roping in Robert Lewandowski while at Blackburn. If it wasn't for that pesky volcanic ash cloud, Sam... Because of his fondness for a 'wildcard player', might we see someone like wily Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere given a more prominent role? And let's not overlook Kevin Nolan - his reliable charge. Perhaps the ex-Bolton, Newcastle and West Ham midfielder might link up with his boss for a fourth time - maybe as a coach following the 34-year-old's stint as Leyton Orient player-manager last season.

Big Sam just cannot be any worse than the debacle we witnessed in the Euros. Give him a chance.
